CHAPTER 22:
RIDING OUT THE STORM
Adena was lying on the grass and she could not get up. She was blinking much more now – much darker, because she was wounded worse. The big blast that Trian shot flew close to John and Melanie in the warehouse, sweeping away almost everything in its path. A part of the roof came down – Melanie rolled away, but a beam fell on John’s shoulder and brought him down.
Trian was about to shoot again, when Leivern jumped him from behind and dropped him on the ground, knocking away the weapon. He was striking him in the back of his head (and tail)… then he saw Adena blinking not too far from there, he went for the weapon first, then to her (this, of course, gave Trian time).
