In The Blink Of An Eye!

 Narrator-                             Kayleen Eriksson was headed to her car after work, such a typical day. She just turned 24 years old and still feels like she doesn't belong in this world that she doesn't fit in. Something is missing. She has a few awesome friends Rain her BFF since grade school. She has electric blue hair for the moment, she is always dying her hair crazy colors. She is probably sleeping right now Rain works nights at the hottest club downtown as their head bartender. Kayleen likes to joke calling her BVFF (best vampire friend forever) because she lives for the night and is hardly ever awake during the day. Rain is 25 and looks like a fairy with her tiny frame. They were never able to borrow each other's clothes. Rain is 5'0 and 105 pounds, Kayleen has a very athletic build and 5'8 at 140 pounds. Neither of them is under or overweight, they just have a different body frame.  Roy her favorite work friend of all time, as well as her older sister Sasha she loves, but at times is also very jealous of Sasha's life. Her sister has very dark brown hair and green eyes, tan, with a curvy figure. She is a travel video blogger and goes all over the place for her job right now is in Africa on an all paid for safari trip. She was daydreaming again about what her life would be like with some adventure in it like her sister Sasha if only she could be outgoing and charismatic like her?! She was so engrossed in her thoughts she didn’t even realize she was about to start down the steps of her office to the parking lot. She stepped off the ledge lost her footing and tumbled down a few stairs before she could stop herself. She laid there embarrassed and laughing uncontrollably. Kayleen always laughed when she was embarrassed, a nervous habit you may say. “Hey Eriksson, I see the clumsy bug bite ya again today.” Followed with laughter. She looked up to see Roy coming over to help her up. “Why does he always have to see me at the most embarrassing moments?!?!” she thought to her self. Roy was handsome in that tall dark and handsome kind of way. Very suit and tie. Always put together. She had a crush on him the moment she started her job. They have worked in the same office together for two years now. Roy Craven was one of her best work friends! If only he knew just how must she likes him, but it has to be kept as friends. One they work together, and two she would NEVER be able to handle losing his friendship.  “Thank you for helping me up… again.” She blushes, (With her blonde hair, blue eyes, and pale skin she turns bright red). Roys POV- “Kayleen why can’t I just tell you how I feel, just want to scream I LOVE YOU!!” He frowned and turned his head feeling like a fool “I am 30 years old, I should be able to express my feelings” Roy thought. I turn back to the sound of her voice "Thank you for helping me up..... again" She blushes. She is the most beautiful women I know, she is so cute when she gets embarrassed. I can't help but plaster a huge smile on my face. "No problem Kay, you know I'm always here to pick you up when you fall." She laughs "Yeah seems like you have been doing a lot of that lately, I can't seem to stay on my feet," I start walking her to her car we chat about nothing in particular. I muster up some courage and asked her “Would you like to come chill at my house tonight?” This may seem like a normal question, but you see we have NEVER hung outside of work. I start to sweat as I wait for her to answer. Kayleen’s POV- I hear his voice ask “Would you like to come chill at my house tonight?” and freeze. As I process his question, oh man what do I say? I have never hung out with him outside work even though I have wanted to ask him so many times. What if I make a fool of myself again? Oh well here goes nothing. “That would be awesome, we can watch that movie you have been raving about.” He looks up when he hears me and there is the biggest toothy smile on his face. This has been a long time coming to say the least. I get to spend time with this perfect man alone?!?! OMG Kayleen, get a grip you two are friends… FRIENDS. “Okay great! Just follow me its about five mins from our work.” Roy says. He gets into his car and starts it up and waits for me. I wander to my car, get inside and take a huge breath and start my car. Well let’s see how this goes I think to myself as I follow him out of the parking lot and down the street. Narrator-   As Kayleen follows Roy to his house she feels excited to finally be able to hang with him outside work. They pull into his driveway and awkwardly get out of there cars like they are unsure what to do now.  “So you ready to head in?” Roy asks nervously “Yes show me the grand tour.” responds Kayleen her voice more high pitched than normal. He takes her all around the house and shows it off. When he is done they sit in the living room laughing and joking they have always been able to talk for hours, sometimes it gets them in trouble at work. Roy finally gets up after a very long conversation and puts on the new Marvel movie. One of their many things in common is the love of superheroes. Kayleen wishes she can be a hero and save people from danger. The talking stops as they fall into a comfortable silence while watching the movie. They were so close they were touching, Kayleen hasn't even noticed they shifted close she was so into the movie. Roy, however, couldn't look away from her and all he can think about is how close they are, how full her lips look and that he just wants to kiss her. Kayleen has a strange feeling she was being watched and look away from the movie. They make eye contact and everything else fades away. She blushes and asks "what are you staring at please tell me I don't have food in my teeth" His reply was just "I am looking at the most beautiful thing I have ever laid eyes on." It just seemed right to lean in and before they knew it they were kissing. Kayleen snapped back to reality and broke it off. “Omg what are we doing,” she asks is a raised voice, shocked at what just happened… without another word Kayleen nervously gets up from the couch and darts out the front door thinking to herself, I had no idea he felt this way but how could I let this happen. Roy quickly follows her outside pleading with her to stay and talk about this with him. She couldn't not right now, she had to just ignore Roy calling for her to please come back. As she is driving home she feels so stressed and confused. On the one hand, she liked kissing Roy and on the other hand, she promised herself she would never do anything that may break their friendship. “I can’t kiss Roy, what was I thinking this may ruin everything we have he is one of my best friends.” She couldn’t think about that now her head was pounding out of her skull. She felt like she was driving forever before she pulled into her driveway. Kayleen walked inside grabbed some water and Tylenol and hoped it would ease her pounding headache. She went to the bathroom and started the water for a hot shower when the phone rings. It is Rain this is too much right now even though they haven't talked to each other in days. She decided to answer just to inform her that rest is very needed if not she will just keep calling until the phone is answered. "HEY GIRL HEY!!" she yells through the phone. "OMG my head Rain quieter please, just answered to tell you really not up for talking have a killer headache, but love ya and will call you tomorrow." "BOOO, fine but if you do not call me tomorrow I will sneak into your room and suck your blood" Rain responded in her best Dacula impression. Both girls laughed and hung up. That is the best thing about their friendship they never have saltly feelings when life happens. Kayleen decides against the shower shuts off the water and just wants to sit the sack. She didn't want to think about how tomorrow at work will go now or what she would say to Roy. She laid in bed waiting for the meds to kick in and feel into a deep sleep……….
