They arrived at Kaylee’s old house to find it cold and dark.
“Chase come with me and the rest of you guys stay out here”, Ryan ordered.
“Bro I want to come in and help,” Evan insisted.
It looked like no one had lived there forever. The glass was broken out of the windows, furniture destroyed, it was horrible.
“I think I know where he could be”, Kaylee said to Ryan. They made their way to an old smokers lounge.
Half smoked Cuban cigars laid on the table and broken liquor bottles on the floor. “Dammit I just knew he would be in here” she said disappointed.
Evan ran in the room. “ I heard something near the kitchen. Let's go” he said, really pushy.
They all went to the kitchen to find it empty.
“Where did you hear it “ Ryan asked
“Maybe it was coming from down there. I know I heard footsteps” he said now pointing towards the stairs
Chase and Evan started to go back and forth.
“Evan you go and tell us what you find” chase said
“No we should go together” evan insisted
“Why are you pushing so hard to get is to go downstairs to a basement?l
“I’m not. I’m just trying to help”
“Ryan I think it’s Evan. Evan is the one that helped get the rogue on the estate undetected
“What?l no don’t listen to him bro”
Evan was visibly upset by Chase’s words but Chase continued.
“Man, my source said it’s a weak link among us. I think it’s Evan. When the first rogue attacked where was he? Not at his post and I saw him sneaking out the house late at night creeping around back. It’s him!”
Ryan started to take in what Chase said.
“Evan wouldn’t do that because he's my brother. What reason would he have to betray me?”
“Thank you now can we go before he gets away” said evan as they continued down the stairs
They walked downstairs to the basement to see three members of the pack already chained up
“What the hell?” Ryan said. He and Chase scrambled to unchain everyone but Evan didn’t move.
“Get away from them,'' he said in a cold voice. Ryan continued to try and free his pack.
“Get away from them,'' Evan repeated. He was now standing behind Kaylee with a knife to her throat. “What are you doing?” asked Ryan with pain and disappointment in his voice.
“Doing what’s necessary. You have a mate now so you’re weak. The pack deserves someone strong that can lead them”
Three mysterious figures came out of the shadows. “
“Chain them up, I’ll deal with the girl.” Evan instructed the unknown men. They chained up chase and Ryan then they left..
“Kaylee, it's such a shame about your fate. You would have made me a fine Luna” he said, licking her face. Ryan roared and pulled at the chains. ” Easy bro, I’m just messing around. “Why are you doing this?” Kaylee asked.
“I’m just following orders”
“Orders from who”, Ryan shouted
“Me of course” kaylee’s father, Royce said walking up with a devilish smile on his face
“You” Kaylee said trying to get to him
“Chain her up,'' he commanded.
“You have the girl so you'll let my brother and the pack go,right? Evan asked Royce.
“What gave you that idea?” he asked in a condescending tone.
“I didn’t want any of this,” Evan said, sounding remorseful. “True I wanted to cause him pain but not like this. This is over”
“It’s over when I say it is. You think you can double cross me”
“You’re a monster!” Kaylee screamed as she pulled at the chains.
“No my dear I’m a God”. he said, preparing to narrate his evil plan.
“You see when you were young I was just a normal man with a family. Bored out of my mind and wanting more. So one day your mother and I went into the woods to seek help from a witch named Karina. I wanted power beyond anything the world had ever seen. “I told her my desires and she laughed, telling me I had such big dreams but not the heart to see them through. Your mother tried to hurry me away so we could go home and I refused. I told Karina I would give her anything in return for her help. Her only request was one of my children. Of course your stupid mother was against it and told me that I couldn't give away one of her children. I was so enraged. She was being so selfish. She didn’t see how this would benefit her too. I mean for crying out loud we had three kids so one gone would still leave us with two.”
Kaylee couldn't believe what she was hearing. Her father continued “ We left and the entire journey home she threatened to leave me upon our return. I couldn’t let that happen so I wrapped my hands tightly around her head and snapped her neck. I left her lying there and returned to the witch. I promised her that I would return with one of my children if she just gave me a little of what I needed to be powerful. She told me if I didn’t return she would find me and demand more than what she had originally requested. I agreed and she cast a spell on me. Making me part wolf. See your mother naturally had the wolf gene and I was always jealous of her for that. I was just a man. I wanted to know what it was like to feel that kind of power. What I would do with it. Who I would kill just to have my seat at the table”

Kaylee pretended to be sleep.
"oh I'm sorry were you still talking.My bad keep going" kaylee said. Everyone laughed
"As I was saying!" Royce said now angry at Kaylee for embarrassing him while he gave his long,unnecessary villain dialogue. "I digress but I never returned to make good on our deal.Then after you left to live happily ever after, Karina came to the house demanding her payment. I told her to take one of the boys but she told me no she wanted more. She said since I didn’t make good of our first arrangement she wanted you and one of your brothers. I told her that was impossible because you had been promised to an Alpha and I couldn’t get you back. She laughed and told me I better find the way or else. Then your nosey brother walked in the room shouting how I couldn’t do that to you and he wouldn’t allow it. He threatened to warn you and tell Alpha Ryan. I couldn’t have that so just as I did to your mother I had to silence him. With him dead that meant I had to give her the little one. I went looking for him but he was gone. The witch thought I was trying to trick her so she gave me 72 hours to deliver her my own two living children or she would take back my power and my life. I told her I needed to be more powerful if I was going to take you from the alpha so she gave me more power. The strength of an ox, body of a wolf and mind of a demon.. all she asked was I also bring her the alpha. I couldn’t refuse so I formulated a plan to get what I needed. I found the alphas brother as the perfect way in. Little brother is tired of living in the shadow of the great Alpha big brother. It was easy to manipulate him to do what I wanted. To make him see what I wanted him to see."
“I'm so sorry bro” said Evan trying to make Ryan understand where he was coming from.
“I didn’t think it would go so far. I just wanted to be respected.”
“Respect is earned and not given” Ryan said, proudly.
“Easy for you to say! People always respect you. It just comes naturally”
“You really think that? It's taken years for me to form the bonds that I have. I didn't just wake up one day and everyone said “ yea the Alpha of the ice moon pack seems cool lets spread the word.”
“bullshit! I have seen people afraid of the mention of you”
“yeah that's because I have rules and whoever does not follow them is dealt with accordingly. you can't hurt women or children whether in our territory or not. you can't steal from people in need. I only want the land to be better so hopefully one day there wont be a need for us to kill anyone but everyone can live in peace.”
“I did not know that,” said Evan now, regretting what he had done.
There were footsteps and commotion. It was Daniel and a strange looking woman. “Half of my payment she said throwing Daniel to the floor”
“D”, Kaylee screamed and yanked at the chains trying to get free.
“So you’re Karina I presume”
“Yes and you’re Kaylee. Such a pretty girl. You’ll do just fine.” She said smiling
“Do just fine? What’s that mean?” Ryan asked, still trying to break the chains.
“Ahhh the Alpha. So strong, so handsome. A fine addition you’ll make as well”
“Ok they're all here. Is that it?”Royce asked the witch.
“Yes that will do nicely” she replied rubbing her hands together and looking at them.
Kaylee couldn't believe this was happening. Her own father had betrayed her and Ryan's own brother had betrayed them all. Kaylee looked over at Ryan fearing that it would be the last time. With tears in her eyes she mouthed I love you. He balled his fist tightly and mouthed I love you too
Ryan yanked at the chains. “You can’t have her witch” he shouted.
“Excuse me? I can have whatever I wish silly boy”, she said with an eerie smirk.
“You can try but there’s nothing you can do with Kaylee. She’s been marked so she belongs to ME. Witch or not your black magic is nothing compared to the bond of an Alpha and his Luna”
Kaylee’s father shook his head in astonishment.
“What?No you’re lying”. He aggressively turned her head to see her mark plain as day.
“No this can’t be! You stupid girl what have you done”?
He became frantic and started pacing back and forth.
“You can still take the Alpha and then my debt is paid”
The witch moved her hands quickly and Royce was snatched off the ground. He struggled to get free but was dangling in the air, choking .
“ You fool. You’ve crossed me for the last time” she said, twisting her hands.
The more she twisted the tighter the grip. His eyes started to bulge out of the sockets as blood ran out of his mouth. Then they heard a crack and his body went limp. He fell to the ground and was dead. “Such a pity I had big plans for you alpha” she said laughing. She waved her hands and the chains fell off. “Maybe some other time”. She waved her hands and was gone.
Daniel ran over to Kaylee and hugged her tight “ where will I go now” he asked.”Trey is gone and I can't stay here alone”. She turned to Ryan. “You’ll go with us now Lil bro “ Ryan said embracing him. Kaylee cried tears of joy that her little brother was safe now and tears of sadness that one had died to protect her. Ryan looked at Evan in disgust
“You” he said in a growl.
“Bro I know you’re mad but everything worked out in the end '' Evan said with complete disregard for the hand he played in this nightmare.
“You are no longer a part of my pack or a member of my family. I don’t care what you do or where you go but it better be far away from me” Ryan said with authority.
“You can’t do that. We’re family '' Evan said with all the entitlement of the world.
“No, you're not a part of my family anymore!", he said with a loud growl.
With that he cast Evan away. He was no longer mind linked to the pack anymore.
“Bro I said I was sorry. Come on where will I go”
“not my problem”
The members of the pack came up and stood behind Ryan and looked at Evan with anger and disgust. “Get out of here traitor. We don’t want you here,” Tyler said growling.
“You better get out of here before I turn them loose.” Ryan said with a smirk on his face. Evan stood unwanted and outnumbered. “This isn’t the last time we’ll see each other '' Evan said, running away. “Alpha you want me to get his ass?” Tyler asked, balling his fist.
“No let the coward run, we're better off without him”
Evan was alone. No family, no pack, no mate.
“Let's go home,” Ryan said and they all headed home. One family
