The Situation
Kaylee’s Point of View
“Today is the day”, I said as if I was a coach giving a pep talk before a big game. Today I was moving. Unfortunately this isn’t a happy moving day. I am the oldest of three children and the only girl so I’m being married off to the alpha of a well known pack, The Ice Moon Pack.
Firstly let me say “ this is the lamest s**t to ever happen to me. I mean really? Who still has “arranged” marriages anymore? I guess me. Any outside person would be saying just say no or make a run for it girl! Well that all sounds good but unfortunately I can’t. You don’t say no to a powerful family like the Johnsons. I heard that one family had a disagreement with them and let’s just say there is now an empty space where their house was and nobody ever saw that family again.
I wasn’t doing this because of the fear of what could happen to me but the fear of what could happen to my brothers. As the oldest I’ve always been a mother to them. Caring for them and teaching them all the best life lessons to try to make them great people. So if I had to be miserable to keep them safe and out of dodge then so be it. I took a deep breath and rotated my neck. “Showtime'' I said as I put on my fakest customer service smile. I walked downstairs to see my little brothers and my luggage waiting on me. Daniel , the youngest, stood there with tears in his eyes. “Kay, do you have to go? huh do you”? I fought back tears and replied, “yes I do my love”. He gave me the biggest hug his little body could and cried into my stomach.
“Gesh D she isn’t dying, she’s just selling her soul!” I heard my other brother Trey say coming out of the kitchen with an apple.
“Really? My soul? a bit much don’t you think?” I asked. He shrugged his shoulders and took a bite of his apple. I rolled my eyes. “You can pretend to be tommy tough guy all you want but I know you’re going to miss me” I said to him while folding my arms. “Are you sure? I’ve already made plans for your room so I’m good. He said jokingly.
I turned around to leave and I heard “well maybe I’ll miss you just a little bit, I guess.” I smiled and turned around to a big hug .
“I love you sis. He better be good to you or else. Alpha or not I’ll kick his ass if he doesn’t treat you right!” Trey said, fighting back tears.
“I know you will bro, I know” I replied. Then a black Lincoln Continental pulled up and a man in black stepped out.
“Well I guess that’s my ride. I love you guys with my whole heart and nothing will change that. Remember everything that I taught you. Just cause I’m leaving doesn’t mean that you start being bums you hear.” I said sounding like their mother and not their sister. They nodded in agreement.
I went to grab my bags and the gentleman said, “ no ma’am I’ll get those for you.” He opened the trunk and placed my luggage in. He closed the trunk, opened my door for me and waited for me to get in the car. I turned to look and my two little heartbeats again before leaving to start a new chapter of my life. I mouthed I love you to them and got in. The driver closed the door and we were off. Off to my new life. My life with alpha Ryan Johnson.
Ryan’s POV
“So nobody was going to tell me this?” I asked, furious.
“We’re telling you now”, my parents responded to my rage.
I ran my fingers through my short black hair and wanted to pull it all out strand by strand. I was so mad. I can’t believe they chose a mate for me and she was on her way to the palace right now. I mean can I get some notice? Maybe casually slide the news into breakfast conversation but no I find out because the help was moving brand new furniture and women’s clothing into one of the rooms.
“Ryan calm yourself this is not how an alpha is to behave”, my mother said to me.
I took a deep breath in and tried to calm down. “ Mother, I apologize but this is all a lot to spring on a person at one time.”
“Are you a man or something else” I heard come from where my father was standing. I could see him from the corner of my eyes laughing.
“James that isn’t called for,” my mother came to my defense.
“No it’s fine let the washed up old man speak” I said in almost a growl.
“Look here bo…
“no you listen hear old man.” i said stopping him in his tracks
“ I have the right to be upset about a decision that was made for me and not with me. There are dozens of women out there that would kill to have a chance to be with me so I don’t need you picking some ugly ole nun for me. Got it!”
“Hello everyone.” I heard a female voice coming from behind me. “I guess I’ve interrupted a heated conversation. I could come back if you’d like,”the voice added.
“Look here” I started as I turned around but was instantly frozen as I saw the woman standing near the entryway. A very statuesque sight to see. She was like something out of a magazine. She was about 5’8 or so but wore high heels that gave her a few more inches. She had long brown hair that came past her shoulders, and gorgeous green eyes. Lightly sun kissed skin and pouty lips with the sexiest shade of lipstick that had me wanting those lips all over mine.
“I mean.. umm. You’re so fine.. no I mean you didn’t interrupt. Yea that’s what I meant”, I said trying to get myself together.
“Come in dear” my mother said, ushering her closer to where we were all standing. “You must be Kaylee” she nodded in agreement to my mother. “ well dear “I’m rose. We are so happy to have you here with us.”. Kaylee smiled at my mother. This is my husband James and my oldest son Ryan.
