The Dinner

Kaylee's POV
I put the picture of my brothers next to my bed so they could be near me. I missed them already and I hadn’t been gone long. I could feel my eyes start to fill up with tears but before any tears fell there was a knock on the door. I quickly wiped my eyes and said “come in”
In walked Alice.
“Oh hi Miss Alice”
“ Hello there I come with a message from Alpha Ryan.” She handed me a note
Come to dinner with the family tonight. Nothing fancy but meet me in the dining room @7
Alpha
I was underwhelmed and a little insulted at the invitation.
“Should I prepare something for you to wear tonight”?asked Alice.
“That won’t be necessary. Please tell the alpha I won’t be in attendance but thanks for the invitation”.
“But ma’am you can’t refuse an invite from the alpha” she said almost afraid.
“I believe I just did. Thank you Alice” I said
“but but…”
“Thank you Alice”, I repeated.
Really? Nothing fancy huh? What a gentleman? He knows how to woo a girl after all the crap I walked in on him saying about what I probably looked like and how many girls would kill to have him.
“Ohhh one should be so lucky for the chance at the Alpha” I said mockingly out loud
“Ladies fall at his feet. No no they throw their panties at his feet with hopes of falling at his feet” I said, rolling my eyes.I suddenly heard the clearing of one's throat coming from behind me. I closed my eyes tightly.
“I bet he’s right behind me” I whispered to myself
I slowly turned around to see Ryan standing in my doorway
“yep I knew it” I said, standing up straight and looking at him.
“How may I help you? I asked him trying not to be embarrassed by my rant he just walked in on. He had a smirk on his face. “Panties huh? Sounds pretty cool don’t you think?” He asked. I rolled my eyes and asked again “how may I help you?”. He looked at me and said “is there a reason why you told Alice you were refusing my dinner invite?” he asked firmly. I looked at him startled a bit.
“I'm not really hungry. if it's all the same to you i'd rather just stay in my room.”
“My mother went through a lot to put this dinner together for you so you should be grateful and show your face”
“I don't mean any disrespect i promise.”
“well it is disrespectful. if i can come and i don't want to then so can you”
“well i'm so sorry that my mere presence is an agitation to you oh great Alpha”
“I didn't say that”
“It's fine just go please”
I could see the frustration in his face. He shook his head and walked out the room
Ryan's POV
I can’t believe her. This is going to be hell dealing with her. She’s difficult for no reason at all.
Well that was a half ass invite, my wolf said to me.
Half ass or not it was an invite so why should she turn it down.
I shook my head and finished getting ready for dinner. Before I knew it 7 o’clock was amost here and I was making my way downstairs to the dining quarters. Everyone was there already, well everybody but Kaylee. My sister Michelle was next to chase making him shoot his chair away. Also my sister Tracy and my brother Kevin were there being their weird selves. Kevin was playing with the knives while Tracy was filling up on multiple glasses of wine.
“Where is this damn girl?” My sister asked slurring her words already
“Be patient she will be here” my mother said in an assuring tone looking at me.
“Well mom you see.. I “
“Hello everyone” I heard coming from behind me. It was Kaylee walking towards the table.
“ I hope I didn’t keep anyone waiting”, she added while glancing in my direction.
“ oh no dear you’re right on time,” my mother said smiling at her.
“Damn she’s hot”, my brother said out loud while looking Kaylee up and down. I kicked at his chair and said, “shut up dumbass nobody asked you”
“Ryan where are your manners? Get her chair”, said my mother.
I led her to the seat near my brother and he was basically drooling so I said “this seat is better and put her near chase instead. My brother looked so disappointed and I loved it.
“Hi I’m Chase”, my beta said introducing himself
“Hi I’m Kaylee nice to meet you” she said in response.
“Are you one of Ryan’s brothers”, she asked curiously
Chase laughed “something like that. He’s my best friend so I guess you could say we’re bros”
She smiled and nodded
“I’m Ryan’s sister and Chase’s girlfriend Michelle” my sister said, extending her hand to Kaylee while reaching over Chase.
“ you are not my girlfriend!” Chase growled. He rolled his eyes and just sat back in his seat defeated.
“I’m Evan”, my brother said reaching over me trying to get Kaylee’s hand
“Nice to meet you” she said
“Pleasures all mine beautiful”, he said licking his lips at her
I elbowed him in the gut and he sat back. I whispered “ cut this s**t out or else” he knew I wasn’t messing around because my tone
“Ok you got it bro. My bad”
All of a sudden we heard loud snoring coming from the table. It was my sister Tracy. She was drunk and now sleepy. I shook my head in embarrassment.
“Well that piece of work is Tracy” I said to Kaylee while pointing at my sister.
“Ok ok enough introductions let’s eat'' my mother said and we began to eat.
So much food that we could feed a village. Lobster tails, shrimp, chicken, pasta, salad, anything and everything was at the table. Everyone dug in and suddenly the only sound was that of eating. I grabbed some lobster tails and was looking for some butter, it was near Kaylee.
“Do you mind passing the butter” I asked her
“Sure,” she said, reaching for it and handing it to me. Her hand brushed against mine and instantly I felt a jolt of electricity. I almost dropped the butter out my hand but I got it in time. “Umm thanks”, I said trying to compose myself
“You’re welcome,” she said pulling her hand away from me and back near her plate. For a minute neither of us moved at all we just kind of tried to process what the hell that was
Static! Yea it was just static electricity, I told myself.
Really that’s what you’re going with, my wolf said, clearly not buying it.
“Excuse me everyone, I need some air,” I said excusing myself from the table.
“Chase come here” I said pulling up my best friend
“But the food,” his greedy ass said in protest.
“Get up now!”
“Ok ok” he said, grabbing some garlic bread and following behind me. We made it outside and I took a deep exhale
“Man what was so important?” Chase asked while taking a bite out of the bread he grabbed on his way out.
“Something just happened in there. Or maybe it was nothing. Yea it was nothing” I said all scatterbrain.
“Wow bro what is it cause you seem off” he said concerned.
“Just now man I felt something”
“Like a stomach ache? I mean it is a lot of food man maybe you need a bathroom break or something”
“I don’t need a bathroom break! It was like electricity that shocked me or something when my hand brushed against Kaylee’s a minute ago” I said pacing back and forth.
“Oh. Did it feel nice?” He asked raising his eyebrows and waiting for my answer
“Why do I keep you around? “ I asked, pushing him in the arm.
“You know you likkkkked it” he said, moving his hips and laughing. I couldn’t help but laugh too at his actions.
“man forget I ever said anything to you. You’re clearly a pervert “ we laughed and I forgot all about whatever the hell that was. We made our way back Inside to see that everyone was gone and the help was cleaning the table.
“What the hell man you made me miss dinner” chase shouted upset that the food was gone
“What happened?” I asked Alice. “
” your sister woke up in a drunken rage and she started waving a knife at everyone” it was quite frightening..Your mother was so upset she told everyone to go to their rooms” she added.
“So the food is gone?” Chase asked with a pitiful look on his face.
“Master Chase there is a plate in the kitchen for you” She said with a smile.
“Aliceeee see that’s why I love you so much,” Chase said pointing at Alice
“Take it to go weirdo. I’ll catch up with you later” I said, throwing a cloth napkin from the table at him.
“Why you gotta be like that bro? you gotta share Alice”
“Bye man” I said shaking my head and heading upstairs
And like that I went to my room and to sleep
