The pack arrived in an unfamiliar place. Although some had their concerns about starting over they were loyal to their alpha. Ryan and Chase had given a friend a heads up that they were on their way. The mystery man gave Ryan a firm handshake and handed him a set of keys
“We really appreciate this on such short notice”
“This is the least I could do after what you did for my family. We owe you our lives” the man said almost to tears
Ryan put his hand on the man's shoulder and gave him a nod.
“Let me know if there is anything at all that you guys need”
Ryan and everyone walked into the building. There were multiple lofts. It wasn’t the estate but it was home. Everyone claimed their respective loft and settled in.
Kaylee and Ryan were walking up the street just trying to get a feel for their new town.
“This is different” Kaylee said breaking the silence
“Definitely”
“But I like it. It’s quaint.l
“Quaint? Who uses that word”
“I do. Don’t worry I’ll broaden your vocabulary my love” Kaylee said shoving Ryan and laughing. He laughed in return and he wrapped his arm around the waist
“Ohhh cake” Ryan said looking in the window of a bakery
“Let them eat cake” Kaylee said laughing
“Huh”
“Let them eat cake. Marie Antoinette”
“You lost me babe”
“Good thing you’re pretty” Kaylee said jokingly running his face
They walked into the small bakery and were greeted by a very friendly lady.
“Hello what can I interest you guys in?”the lady asked
“Just two slices of the best seller” Ryan said
“OK that will be our lemon cake with Italian meringue buttercream”
“Sounds yummy. Give us the whole cake ”Kaylee said smiling
The nice lady boxed their cake up and handed the bag to them. They paid and were heading out when Kaylee stopped
“Baby look at the sign” Kaylee said pointing at the help wanted sign advertised on the door.
“I don’t know babe. Me and chase have some leads on a few business ventures. You don’t have to worry we’re good on money trust me”
“Are you guys interested in applying” the lady said excited
Kaylee gave a defeated look over in her direction
“No sorry”
The lady looked sad. She really was hoping they would say yes. Kaylee felt bad for not applying but then again she didn't know how it would be having a wolf in a bakery. Maybe the same as a bull in a china shop.
“I’m Kaylee by the way” Kaylee said extending her hand
“Nice to meet you I’m Mia” the lady said shaking Kaylee’s hand
“Nice to meet you Mia. I’m sorry I can’t apply for the job but you do seem really nice. And your bakery is awesome so I’ll see you around”
“Thanks Kaylee. I look forward to it”
Ryan and Kaylee walked out the bakery
“Look at you making a new friend already” Ryan said with a smile
“I mean I might as well. I’m the only female in a pack full of guys. I’d like to talk about chick stuff every now and then”
“Hey there is nothing wrong with us. We’re interesting”
Kaylee just rolled her eyes as they made it back to the loft. Daniel was sitting on the couch watching TV with Chase.
“Hey you lovebirds where did you guys run off to” chase said
“We went to this nice little bakery” Kaylee said
“Bakery? Did you bring anything back” chase said literally drooling
“Well we got a lemon cake but you probably won’t want any” Ryan said waving the bakery bag in chase’s face
“Me not wanting food is like you not wanting s*x”
“Dude… kid.. right next to you” Ryan said pointing to Daniel
“I’ve heard the word s*x before at school” Daniel said laughing
“Oh yea school. We have to get you registered in school" Kaylee said.
Kaylee kind of froze for a while. How could she register Daniel without all his information. A paper trail could cause problems for the pack if anyone was looking for them
“You know what we’ll figure that out later just eat some cake with chase and don’t stay up too late. I love you” she said kissing him on the head and walking to the bedroom. Ryan followed
“What’s wrong love?”
“He can’t go to school. I don’t have any of his documents and a paper trail will help anyone locate us”
“Locate us? Nobody is looking for us”
“How do you know that? You and your family aren’t on good terms and we don’t know what happened to those rogues.”
“You’re being paranoid.we are fine. I won’t let anything happen to you or Daniel, ok?” He said, trying to reassure his mate.
She nodded but still had a gut feeling that something wasn’t right. She knew Ryan would go to the ends of the earth for her but she couldn’t let her guard down. She was Luna and would protect her man, brother and pack with everything she had.
Back at the Johnson estate
Evan and James were making plans.
“So do you know where they are yet” James asked pacing back and forth in Ryan’s office
“Not yet but I will. Des is in contact with one of the pack members. Maybe he’ll slip up and tell him their location” Evan said
“You are such a disappointment. You had one job and couldn’t do that. Royce and I gave you Ryan on a platter then you failed to finish the job”
“It wasn’t my fault Royce made a deal with that witch”
“You’re full of excuses. You’ll never be Alpha!”
“Yes I will you’ll see” Evan said storming out of the room.
He went to the pack house to find Des sitting alone.
“Where are they? I know you know” Evan shouted enraged
“I don’t know, I swear. I’m not linked to the pack anymore so I can’t get information”
“Find out where they are!"
"You are never going to find them on your own" Michelle said walking in to the room.
"Yes I will. I'm Alpha now"
Michelle started to laugh at Evan's statement
"Alpha of who? Des? He's one person. You need a pack to be an Alpha dumbass"
"Get out. I don't need this"
"Well you clearly need my help to find them. They've been gone how long now? You're just sitting around here still where you started. You need me"
Evan started to think about what his sister was saying. He had no idea how to find them and he had so much to prove to his father.
"Why would you help me?"
"I'm not helping you. I'm helping myself.I need their location just as bad as you"
"why?"
"Chase of course. I'd kill to find him"
"So you help me find them and you get Chase? Deal"
Evan and Michelle shook hands. They both wanted something and would do anything to get it. Even kill
