6;The Hidden Truth

Ember's eyes darted around the room as if she were searching for an escape route. Asher's gaze remained fixed on hers, his expression unyielding. "Tell me, Ember," Asher said again, his voice low and urgent. "What's going on?" Ember took a deep breath, squaring her shoulders. "I don't know what you're talking about," she replied, her voice firm but unconvincing. Asher raised an eyebrow. "Don't lie to me, Ember. I know you're hiding something." Ember's eyes flashed with anger, but Asher could see the fear lurking beneath. "Fine," she spat. "If you must know, I'm being stalked. Someone has been leaving me messages, warning me away from... from someone." Asher's eyes narrowed. "From who?" Ember hesitated, her lips trembling. "From you." Asher's expression remained neutral, but his mind was racing. Why would someone warn Ember away from him? What did they know about his past? Suddenly, Ember's eyes widened in horror. "Oh God, Asher. I think I know who's been stalking me." Asher tightened his grip on the paper. "Who?" Ember's voice was barely above a whisper. "My brother." Asher's eyes snapped to hers. "Your brother?" Ember nodded, tears streaming down her face. "He's been missing for years. I thought he was dead. But if he's been stalking me..." Asher's mind reeled with the implications. Ember's brother, missing for years, was now stalking her? And what did this have to do with Asher himself? Just as Asher was about to ask another question, the lights in the room began to flicker. Ember's eyes locked onto his, filled with a mixture of fear and warning. "Asher, I think we're in danger." Suddenly, the lights went out, plunging the room into darkness.
