Chapter 2

1365 Words
Raven pov I drove the car to my mansion and stopped in front of the entrance. I got out and made it to the door but my mood still had not gotten any better, instead it was worse. I kept thinking about what Matt said all the way home, how am I supposed to marry someone else when I already have the girl I love with me? If I do get married to someone else, what will happen with Kate, it’s not like I expect her to understand what I’m going through, it will be silly to get someone else, how are we even supposed to live? One thing is for sure, I will not let go of Kate, I will just have to find a way to solve this. Third person pov When Raven made it through the door, his lover rushed to his side to take his briefcase from him and gave him a kiss smiling, but she immediately pulled away, only to be met with a his cold and angry expression. “what happened? Why do you look that way hunny?” Kate asked with a bit of fear, she was not used to seeing this side of him directed towards her, he was always all smiles when with her, so seeing him this way worried her, not because she was upset with what really happened to him, but with whether he has seen through her or gotten tired of her. On the inside she was wondering if he wants to leave her, which will not be good, she will be losing her access to a lot of money which he was giving her every time she acted coy and pitiful. But on the outside, she looked really concerned about him. When Raven saw the expression on her face, his expression immediately softened and he hugged her tightly, as is afraid she would disappear. “I have to talk to you about something, we have a problem” he released her then lead her to the sofa in the living room, once they had settled he looked at her and found her confused face. “what is going on Raven? You have me worried over here” she said sounding worried about him. “my mother wants to choose someone else as a bride for me, and if I don’t agree to it, she is going to give everything we have to charity. I don’t want to marry anyone else, so I think we should leave, with the money we have, we can start a life somewhere else” he told he hesitantly, looking at his fingers like they were the most interesting this, so he missed the look of horror and sheer evil on his lovers face. Kate was feeling wronged, how can she work so hard to secure the richest man in the country only to have him ripped away from her by someone else, just because his mother likes them? So she made a resolution, no matter what happens, he will not let him go. After growing up in an orphanage, she knows that in order to get anything good, you have to fight for it, and do whatever it takes to ensure that it remains as yours.  When she had first met Raven as his secretary, she had told herself that she will get this man, so she acted all coy and innocent, she never argued with him, told him sad stories about a pitiful past and it work, her felt sympathy for her and began to treat her better, and soon after, she became his woman, and since then, he never limited her form anything, she had access to everything she ever wanted, after all, she did not want to live in poverty all her life and as nothing but a mere assistant or secretary with a small salary, so she hugged a rich thigh, and realizing that he will soon belong to someone made her angry beyond reason. But she hid it well and touched his shoulders, urging him to face her, her one murderous and chilling expression now replaced with a worried and concerned one.  “I think you should marry the one your mother chooses for you, I will leave, I can’t let you lose everything that you have worked so hard for, just so that you could be with someone like me, I have nothing to contribute, I’m just holding you back” she said in a broken voice with tears streaming down her face. Looking at her pitiful expression, Raven found his resolve. “I will not let anything separate us, I will always be by your side, even if I do marry her, she will have to respect you as the woman I love and the mistress of this house. I promise you, I will be with her only to secure my things, and after that, I will divorce her and be with you forever. You are the only one qualified to be my wife, anyone else is nothing but a maid brought into this house by my mother, don’t worry, I will fix it” he told her as he wiped away her tears and brought her into a tight hug. He was sad to see her cry, and felt hurt that he was the reason behind it, this was his woman, and seeing her cry made him angry, his face was so cold that it put the north pole to shame. On the other hand, Kate was smiling I triumph, she knew that whoever was to marry him, was in for a big surprise because they will meet with the devil himself. She couldn’t care less what happened, as long as she knew her future was safe and to do that, she will have to get the new bride out of the way. Raven pov I watched her cry as she told me to marry someone else because she does not want me to lose everything that I have worked so hard for, she is so understanding and supportive, I do not understand why my family do not want her, I mean, she always puts me before herself every time. I pulled back from the hug to look at the stunning face before me. She looked beautiful despite being covered with tears and her mascara running. She is a ginger red hair, green eyes, thin soft lips, and beautiful curves. I felt so bad to see her so sad. So I carried her to the dining table where Mrs Jones, our house keeper and cook was already setting the food. I sat down with her on my lap, her head still on my chest. I looked at the old woman who had a displeased expression and told her to leave. Once we were alone I urged her to eat, which she did poorly, only to please me, then fell asleep, I carried her to bed and covered her, then took out my phone to call my dear old mother.  I didn’t even wait for her to ask, “you can choose my bride mother but I hope you don’t interfere with anything after that, I will marry that woman and give you a child, but after that, I hope you do stay off my case” I told her before she even had the chance to speak. I was about to hang up on her but she spoke, “you will love this girl Raven, and even forget all about that witch you live with.” She said to me, you could hear the confidence in her voice. I just hang up before she could say anything more. ‘we will see mother; I will make that woman leave her without looking back’. I looked at Kate who was sleeping peacefully and I felt my anger rise. ‘she has not even entered my life yet she has already made my love cry, she better be prepared, this marriage won’t be a joy ride.’
