Raven pov It’s been two weeks since I told mother to find a bride for me and each passing day, my anger and hatred just keep increasing. First my dad came to be with Champaign to celebrate that I will be getting married and the war between me and mom is finally over, he went on and on about how I am going to love the girl mom chose for me, then Matt congratulated me. And if you are wondering what pissed me off so much over such a small matter that I could just blow off, well, it’s because they came straight to my home, and spoke without care that Kate was there, in fact, they treated her like she is nothing but air, and from that day onwards, Kate has been keeping her distance form me, she looks so sad but tries to smile, she thinks I cannot hear her every time she cries in the bathroom behind closed doors. I just sigh and look at the stack of documents that require my approval, everything is going wrong for me lately, I can’t even seem to focus on work, I really need to get over this. I just looked the document over and gave my approval, when I was done, I looked at the time, only to find out that it was time for lunch. Normally, Kate would be here with her home cooked meal, or just so she can go to lunch with me, but this past couple of weeks, I have had to rely on takeout. I just sat there closing my eyes to rest, it’s not fun having to sleep in an empty cold bed when you have a warm body just on the other side of the wall. My thoughts where interrupted by Kyle, my personal assistant, he has been with me since I took over Stone corp. seven years ago. “what is it Kyle? Is there anything you need?” I asked him with a confused face, he was just standing there looking scared, a trait he has developed this last couple of days, and this told me that the expression on my face must be dark. “well sir, your mother is her with a woman, she wants to see you, so I came to ask first” he said hesitantly. I punched my desk and I saw it crack while Kyle took a step back, ‘she is finally here, the woman sure does not waste time’. I took deep breathes to calm down, I have to keep up pretences so that this damn woman will agree to marry me and get my mother off my case. “the rule is still the same Kyle, my family can come into my office anytime, no need to stop them. Now let them through”, I said with a smile and he just looked at me in shock before he nodded and left. I sat back down and hid my temper, I waited for a couple of minutes before my mom arrived, behind her was a woman, one I assume must be my bride. I looked at my mother’s bright smile, and watched as the girl hid behind her.  “this is Crystal Storm” my mom said as she moved and revealed the girl behind her who had part of her face and hair covered by a hoodie. I stood up and went to her. “hey, I’m Raven Stone” I said in the gentles voice I could master, hiding the annoyance. ‘can’t she even look at me; why would my mother find such a coward for me’. My mood was quickly dropping when she did not even look at me and just bowed her head even more. I could hear my mother laugh but I just ignored her and looked at the girl before me. I looked at her, standing at approximately 5’5 which was short compared to my 6’6. She was dressed in her grey oversized hoodie, black leggings and black boots. ‘who dresses this way when they go to meet their future husband. I can’t believe mom chose such a woman for me, she has no taste in clothes and worst, no respect for me. I couldn’t take it anymore, so I put my finger under her chin and lifted her face, when she looked at me, I felt my breath hitch, and I can’t explain what it was, but her eyes made my head ache, like I have seen them somewhere but I couldn’t remember where. I quickly hid my emotions when I saw her staring at me. She had plump pink soft looking lips, fair skin, and most importantly, grey eyes surrounded by a gold ring. The more I looked at her, the more I felt weird, but I hid it well behind a smile. It does not matter, at the end of the day, I have to make her leave, no one will come between me and my love. Crystal pov I was looking into the eyes of the man soon to be my husband while he smiled down at me. I can’t believe that after all this years, I finally get to meet him again. The one man I have loved since I was eight years’ old. He looks more handsome than he did before, he is now more refined, he looks more lean and muscular, with his jet black hair that has been jelled in place, hazel eyes, thin lips and sharp nose. He looks like he walked straight out of a perfect dream. Looking into his eyes, I wonder if he still remembers me. I smiled at him and he looked at his mother, “can you leave us alone mother I want to talk to her personally”. He sad looking straight into my eyes and Mrs Stone laughed before she made it out the door, “I’ll just be outside, should you need me” she said looking proud. I felt my heart skip a bit at the thought of being left alone with him, and my cheeks immediately heat up. As soon as his mother went out the door, his eyes went cold, the hand that was on my cheek dropped, his smile faded, and the air around him dropped to negative. I was confused at his change in personality as I watched him return to his seat. ‘did I do something wrong? What happened to the loving guy just now?’ I thought to myself and I guess I didn’t hide my emotions well because I suddenly had him laugh, not in a mesmerising way, but a laugh of pure evil. “there is no need to be so confused, I will explain everything to you. Firstly, I don’t want to marry you, I’m just doing this to please my mother. Secondly, there will be no wedding, just us signing our names and getting our marriage certificate. Thirdly, if you do choose to accept this marriage, you will have to share a house with me and the love of my life. Finally, you are to make sure that no one knows that you are my wife, aside from my family, and you are to put up the loving couple act when my family comes over” I looked at him in shock, I can’t believe that this is happening. What happened to the love of my life? Don’t get me wrong, I have had about his relationship with his lover, they say that even though it started with her as his secretary, that he loves and cherishes her. I just thought that if he sees me, he will remember me and our promise. I guess, I’m the only one who actually still cares about it. I felt tears run down my cheeks as I thought more about what he just said, but nonetheless, I agreed to his conditions. And just like that, he told his lawyers to prepare everything, and three hours later, I was holding a marriage certificate. When everything was taken care off, I went to find Mrs stone, and told her about our marriage, she was mad to realise that we got married out of the blue, and that two with no celebration. “it’s ok aunty, we just couldn’t stay apart for much longer. We have been separated for thirteen years already, so I just kind of jumped into it. We will have a wedding later, I just wanted to secure him first” I told her with a smile, hiding my pain, I couldn’t let her know what happened, she has such high hopes, and I can’t see them crush and burn. She seemed satisfied with my answer for she was even squealing with happiness. ‘if only you knew aunty, he has forgotten all about me’
