Chapter Twenty-Three That afternoon Cogent arrived back in town. This was the first time in awhile that Cogent had been in downtown New Orleans during the day. Since he had gotten the job in Metairie, he primarily spent his days there. New Orleans was now a relatively smaller city as compared to what it used to be. A lot of the folks had moved away since the hurricane had demolished the homes. The old-timers and Creoles remained faithful to their city and stayed put after weathering the storm.
