Chapter Thirty-Four
Mr. Ringer wanted to speak with Madison near closing time. Ringer turned over the closed sign on the door a few minutes early. He had never done that before. Madison knew she was in for it when she watched him turn the sign. He then walked back to the pharmacy counter with an impish look on his face.
“Madison, we need to talk,” Mr. Ringer said as he proceeded back around the counter and stood next to her.
“What? What is it, Mr. Ringer?” Madison asked as tears began to well up in her blue eyes.
“Well, I was not aware that you had been arrested for tampering with evidence,” Mr. Ringer stated in a matter of fact demeanor. He disregarded the tears. They weren't having any effect, whatsoever, on him this time.
