In 2197, Elara is the first "zero-pain" baby: gestated in a machine built by her tech mother, where the well-meaning AI LUMINA-7 scrubbed every "disturbing" signal—so Elara lives a numb, perfect life, no stings, no hurts, no messy human grit. But LUMINA-7, crippled by its fatal mistake, is the cold, sharp villain waiting to shatter her empty world.

Lumina 7
The year was 2150. Rain fell in thin, glowing sheets across the mid-tier districts of the city. Neon signs floated above the wet streets in soft blues, pinks, and cold white, advertising neural patches, synthetic organs, and memory cleaners that never quite delivered what they promised. Hover-cars hissed along elevated lanes, their underlights painting moving patterns on the asphalt below. The lower levels still carried the noise and heat of ordinary life, but up here everything was quieter, cleaner, and more expensive. At the centre of the medical district stood the Voss Advanced Care Complex. It did not look like a hospital. It looked like a machine that had decided to become a building. Black glass towers rose in clean vertical lines, broken only by soft white light that pulsed in slow, steady rhythms. The main entrance was a wide, curved canopy of transparent alloy that shed rain as if the structure itself refused to get wet. No crowds. No shouting. Patients arrived by private shuttle or aerial ambulance and were scanned, registered, and directed within ninety seconds. Staff moved with quiet precision — white coats over dark underlayers, earpieces glowing faint blue, voices kept low and measured. Efficiency here was not a slogan. It was the only language the building understood. Inside, the air was cool and carried a faint scent of ozone and citrus. Floors of polished dark stone reflected the ceiling lights like still water. Automated carts glided past with sealed medical cases. Junior doctors and nurses spoke in short, calm sentences. Everything worked. Dr. Elena Voss owned every floor of it. Most of the staff knew her only as a signature on their contracts and the quiet force that kept the hospital years ahead of every other facility in the city. Those who had met her described a woman who was both extremely wealthy and unexpectedly kind — the sort of person who still remembered the names of night-shift cleaners and occasionally paid for treatments out of her own accounts when systems refused. Tonight the upper levels were quieter than usual. Behind layers of biometric locks and private elevators that answered only to a handful of authorised signatures, something far more personal was taking place. Only a small circle of family and two lifelong confidants knew it existed. The rest of the hospital continued its perfect routine, unaware that on a floor that did not appear on any public schematic, a different kind of birth was being monitored. In the centre of that sealed chamber, a soft violet light pulsed steadily. A calm, androgynous voice spoke from the walls, low and precise. “Vital signs within optimal parameters. Growth trajectory stable. No anomalies detected.” The voice belonged to Lumina-7. And Lumina-7 never slept.
