“Maddie, go get Tracy and make sure she sees the pack doctor,” Zayden told the girl who tried to trip me earlier. He continued to drag me back to my room, opened the door, shoved me in, and locked it from the outside.
“Way to go Maze, you made him not want us,” I said out loud.
No, he wants us, but he’s got some attachment to that she-wolf. I should have killed her! she spat.
That’s not going to solve anything. If anything, it’ll just piss him off more, I reasoned.
I felt my mark burning, excruciating pain as it became hot to the touch.
What is this?! I asked beginning to panic.
He’s touching another, Maze howled, as she took over. Maze wasn’t the kind of wolf who respected her assigned human. This is probably what made her so dangerous. She wanted a submissive human, yet someone who could be her friend. That was me.
Maze picked up one of the ugly nightstand lamps and, using the base, shattered the bedroom window. She cleared out the glass, and looked down, We can make that. And jumped. She jumped the 3 floors, landing gracefully on her feet. She followed the mate pull into the forest, out to kill.
She reached the clearing to see Zayden f*****g another she-wolf, leaving his mark on her.
“WHAT IS THIS?!” Maze bellowed. Zayden whipped around to face me.
“YOU BETRAY ME,” Maze continued, “YOU DON’T DESERVE US!”
“Calm down,” Zayden began.
“CALM DOWN? YOU BETRAY THE MATE BOND; YOU BETRAY ME. YOU BETRAY CARMEN. YOU BETRAY YOUR KIND,” Maze shouted.
“RETREAT,” Zayden yelled, giving off his Alpha aura. Maze refused to budge, and this time, I fought the pull until it died.
Reject him, Maze! I cried.
“I, CARMEN SKY OF HALF BLOOD PACK, ALPHA QUEEN, REJECT YOU, ALPHA KING ZAYDEN,” Maze spat at him. The breaking of the bond was painful as I regained control, falling to the ground.
“I do not accept your rejection,” Zayden said. That was the last straw, I can’t believe he would choose to mark multiple she-wolves! I quickly shifted into my wolf. Maze might like to take control, but when she’s in her body, she radiates more power, her eyes are a blood red, and her fur is blacker than the night, she almost looks blue!
Maze growls at Zayden and because he didn’t accept the rejection, she leaps at the she-wolf Zayden marked. He stepped in front of her, catching Maze off guard. He’s holding Maze and not letting up as she thrashes to get to the she-wolf.
“RUN!” he yells at the girl. The hunt has begun. Maze radiates fire around her body, burning Zayden so he lets go. Once he lets go of Maze, she turns towards the direction the girl ran, sprinting after her. Maze catches up to her easily. Choosing to disrupt her run, summoning fog too thick to see through, to the forest floor. She then growls loudly to frighten the girl. Just as she’s about to pounce onto the girl and finish her off, Zayden tackles Maze. His wolf is bigger than Maze, but that doesn’t stop her. She begins to heat up the air surrounding her, looking like a wolf on fire. She charges at Zayden, who dodges the attack.
I can’t hang on much longer. I’ll kill you if I don’t stop, Maze told me.
Don’t give in. How fast can you get us away from here? I’d rather leave and be a rogue then stay, I told her.
I will keep us safe, Maze replied as she charged again at Zayden, this time when he dodged, she kept going. Using the flames to push herself faster. She finally cooled the air around her body.
Reject him again, it might be the only way to escape him, Maze told me.
I, Carmen Sky of Half Blood, Alpha Queen of Death Pack, reject you, Zayden Anderson, Alpha King of Death Pack, I said.
Immediately, I felt the mate bond break. The pain was excruciating, for, about 5 minutes, then nothing. He didn’t accept it though; I felt a single strand hanging on.
Why does it feel like this? I asked.
We both rejected him. He’s no longer our mate, but we are still his. Until he accepts our rejection, we will have some tie to him. Maze explained.
Great, the bastard wouldn’t let us go. Maze continued to run through the forest, at some point we started to hear the rustling of the forest telling us that there were other wolves around. Maze started to change directions, and the wolves took that as their shot to keep us moving, changing directions until we were headed into the direction we came from. Great.
He must have had wolves waiting, damn him! Maze cursed. We approached the area where we had last seen Zayden only to be tackled to the ground, “SHIFT,” he commanded in his alpha tone, this time emanating all his power. Enough to force Maze to retreat deep into my mind.
“Tsk, tsk, tsk,” Zayden began, “you are more trouble than I thought.”
“Maze didn’t appreciate you locking us up. Better be careful,” I taunted. I was tired of being submissive.
“So, you know, I’ve marked every woman I’ve been with, only you are my mate, there’s no need to be jealous,” Zayden mused.
“Jealous? I wasn’t jealous. I was hurt! I could feel my skin burning where you touched her,” I spat! After, I turned to find all of his men were back to their human forms. Walking up to a cute blonde I planted my mouth firmly on his. I could hear Zayden growl, followed by a whimper.
That’s right, Zayden, I’ll make you pay for hurting me! When I was done, I turned back to him, “Do you understand now?”
Zayden was gone, his wolf replaced him, stomping up to me, reaching around, and killing the blonde with his gigantic paw, to my horror.
“You left me no choice,” he claimed, after shifting back to his human form.
“You had a choice,” I whispered. He huffed, as he bent to pick me up like a sack of potatoes.
“What are you doing,” I demanded.
“Taking you where you won’t be an issue,” Zayden responded. He carried me through the night, to a small cottage.
