Chapter 6

As I was guided to the ballroom, I immediately noticed Tracy descending the staircase in a bright red dress that hugged her entire figure. She had a grin bigger than Mount Rushmore on her face. As soon as she reached the floor, she announced, “Our great Alpha has received notice that the Lycan King will be joining us tonight!” Woah, the Lycan King. In terms of the hierarchy the Lycan King was at the top, beneath him were the Lycan Alphas followed by the Alpha King. Maze, what if we have to battle a Lycan for the Alpha position? I asked. We will be fine, I’m sure the Lycan’s wouldn’t want such an insignificant title. Maze was right, what Lycan would want to live their life with werewolves? As I acted to be in awe from the decorating, I carefully listened in on Tracy’s conversation with her friends, “He’s already here. I think he’s in the ballroom. He hasn’t found his mate yet, maybe one of you will get him. Imagine us having full control of the entire werewolf and lycan worlds! We would get our mates to do whatever we wanted!” Impotent girls, they wouldn’t know how to handle a Lycan,” Maze seethed. As she continued to rant in my mind about how pathetic those women were, I decided to enter the Ballroom. Realistically, it looked more like a High School dance. Whomever decorated didn’t decorate for a King, they decorated for a child. “Beautiful isn’t it,” a foreign girl said next to me. “It’s not my taste, but I’m sure it’ll do,” I responded with a smile before walking towards the banquet table to inspect the food. “Attention everyone, attention,” a short chubby man yelled. How creative! Yelling ‘Attention’ to get everyone’s attention, Maze sneered. She’s right, seems like every fairytale story has some insignificant man yelling “attention” before making a decree. I smiled inwardly, waiting expectantly for this decree. “His royal highness..” the man began before Maze started singing in my mind, “Christopher Rupertert. Son of Her Majesty, Queen – QUIT IT MAZE! I half yelled, have laughed at her. Can’t deny, that Cinderella is my favorite, she said before clamping her mouth shut. “…. After dinner, every warrior will have the opportunity to fight for their Alpha King on the battle grounds, the strongest shall be named the new Alpha of Half Blood Pack! Let the ball begin!” As werewolves began flooding the dance floor, I noticed neither King were in attendance. Let’s go find them, Maze said. Of course, you’d want to go find them! You’re so damn nosy! I told her. I wouldn’t be the wolf I am today without my curiosity, was her response before trying to take over. Okay, fine! Let’s go find them, but you cannot take over. You remember the last time you seen the Alpha King, I told her. She immediately quit fighting me as I walked back out of the ball room, in search of my mate. As I climbed the staircase, I caught the scent of citrus and pine, it was like a drug. I immediately went into a daze as I followed it. As I got closer, I could hear arguing in the Alpha’s office. “…king!” I heard a voice. “I am the King, you are here of your own volition! Your mate CANNOT be one of my pack members,” I heard Zayden say. “I am telling you, she’s here, and if I find out you’ve been hiding her there will be consequences,” the other man said. “Honey, maybe a treaty can be established if we can find the Lycan King’s mate,” I heard Tracy’s nasally voice. Knock on the door, or I’m taking over, Maze said. Great. Why? I asked. Our mate is in there, knock on the door, Maze said again before I felt her trying to take over. UGH! FINE! I yell at her.
