Grrnn, the doorbell rang. It must be them said Isabel running to the door almost immediately. She opened the door and her friends embraced her. Hi Isabel, hi princess.... I heard them say to her. Wow huni! you look superb. The two commented. Thanks, all thanks to big sis who made them for me. Isabel said giving them a full view of the hair. You may come in. she ushered them. They scrambled into the sitting room and there came another ring. Grrnn. The doorbell rang again. Isabel ran to the door and opened it with excitement. Big sis Angie it's senior Janelle. she said. I could see the facial excitement clearly drawn on her face. Come in. she said finally, ushering Janelle into the sitting room. We hugged while Isabel rushed back to meet her friends were already turning the house into a rowdy carnival. Gosh! they are so noisy. I exclaimed. Janelle smiled at me. Let's go to my room. I said almost immediately. We climbed the stairs and we got to my room. It was just opposite Isabel's room. I opened the door and we walked in.
Pinkalicious Queen you'd never change Angela. She exclaimed and I laughed and said. Welcome to my pinkalicious room, the little palace and little home of my small world. "Bravo honey you did well". She applauded. Thank you, I said, taking a funny bow. Gosh, Angie, you're really naughty, she said again. We sat on the bed. I felt my emotion change again. I was having this crazy feeling going on in my mind. Oh, God, please don't let harm befall them. I prayed inside of me.
"Angela, are you alright?" Janelle asked with concern written on her face. I felt the urge to tell her, I couldn't hold it any longer. Immediately, I felt something hot on my face, streaming down. I was crying, too bad of me Janelle saw it and I couldn't hide it so she drew closer and gave me a hug. She knew i was disturbed and i succumbed to the warm hug. Angie....She called in a soft voice. Whatever that is playing with your emotions, please let me know. Well...Janelle... I tried maintaining my voice. JANELLE I AM SCARED. I blurted out at last. Why are you scared? She asked again. I'm scared I may never mom and dad again.
I said getting up from the bed and walking round the room with Janelle's eyes trailing my movement. Janelle walked up to me and rested her right arm on my left shoulder then she made me face her so I could look straight into her eyes. Angie, mom and dad will come back safe and sound so don't try to have or develop bad feelings towards the journey they've embarked on, okay?
I nodded. But.....Janelle you know mom and dad have been going for various business trips before this one without me having bad feeling, how come this one is different?
Hmm....well that's a very big question to answer. It's rhetoric you know. She said inspecting my hand fan she picked up from my dressing table.
She turned back at me while I was still standing fixed by the wardrobes. Angie, we can fix this. Just cheer up, okay? Everything would be fine, she assured me. I nodded again because I was still somehow scared. She walked to where I was and said, Hey, Jewel, smile. Mom and dad will be home soon. She gave me a playful punch and then we started a pillow fight.
She really helped in calming down my mind. We later discussed about sports and school stuffs. It was so lovely. I wished it could continue but it was getting late. Oops! Angie I got to go so I won't keep mom cross. She laughed heartily, then she looked straight into my face. Angie, she called slowly. Yes, Janelle, I replied. She smiled again and asked me a question that got me thinking. Can I tell you something important? I scratched my head, then I nodded. Angie, if I tell you now, promise me you won't be sad.
She said again. I felt my stomach cramp. "Okay, I promise, I managed to say." "Angie, you won't see me again." She broke out. My face turned sour, and I felt my heartbeat racing fast that I could get a BP at this young age. "Why did you say so?" "It's because daddy is moving to the States due to work shifts. I'm not even happy about it, but what can I do?" Janelle had said.
I reasoned with her, "Indeed Janelle, I'm gonna miss a true friend like you, so when are you leaving?" 30th of this month. Came the reply. "So you only have one more week to spend with us here in the Philippines?" I said, calculating. Indeed honey, just one more week and I'm missing you already. She added.
Awwwn... I blushed. Hey Angie don't turn rosy red if not you'll look like a bitten dog. She teased. Janelle was fond of that, always teasing people and that often get them pissed off. Sometimes I ask her if she derives joy in teasing people but her only reply will always be "it's fun".
Don't start thinking, I was just kidding. She broke the silence. Let's go so I can see you off. I replied, helping myself in wearing my purple pencil gown which she helped in zipping it up. You look amazing in it hottie. she commented. I blushed again. I was used to doing that at every little sweet word.
Let's move Janelle. I said. Wait! I've got something to give to you. I called back. I opened my wardrobe and searched frantically for something. I checked the chest and there it was. I brought out a shiny gold necklace with a diamond pendant. It was so beautiful that it sparkled like the beautiful blinding sunlight. Wow! Janelle exclaimed. What a beautiful sight to behold. I wore it round her neck and she rushed to the mirror admiring it and giggling. Thanks Angie, I owe you something.

Janelle's Residence
I got home and was thinking deeply about Angela's words. I threw myself on the couch.
'Miss Janelle'. My nanny called.
Yes ma'am. I replied. Dinner is ready. She told me. Alright. I said.
I rushed to my room. I love red so much that my room should be called a royal red blossom. I thought and smiled. I carefully placed the necklace in my jewelry box. I rushed downstairs and met my parents at the dining. Hi mom, hi dad. I greeted. Oh baby why weren't you home on time? Mom queried.
I'm sorry Mom. I had to stay with Angela for a long time due to her skeptical feelings towards her parents trip. I explained. Hmm it's alright. Mom said with a sigh of relief while dad looked on. Get me my glasses Janelle. he ordered. Yes dad. I said taking his glasses from the shelf standing by the left hand side of the dining. My father is a bookworm always buying books that he mistakenly bought a spell book one day from a book stand. I dread that book with passion. It's a book black in colour with a kind of devilish lightening illustrated on it. The book has been separated from all other books but it still scares me at night. I wish to dispose that book someday it's really scary.
Janelle! Dad had called one day. Don't try to read this book it's a spell book. He had told me on that day.
A spell book. I repeated in fright. What do you want to use a spell book for? I asked him in horror. I mistakenly bought it from the book stand without looking twice at it. he replied.
Hmm. I said and since then they had always used it in making me say the truth. Gosh! mummy brought up that cruel idea the day I stole some meat from the pot. I was forced to say the truth when mummy threatened to bring the book closer so I'd hold it and swear by it. You've got to see me that day sweating like a Christmas hen. I had to confess for it was better than touching that evil book. I came back to my senses. I took the glasses and rushed back to my seat at the dining. Here it is dad. I said handing the glasses to him.
