"Well..... he's taking me out on a date tomorrow evening," she said, blushing. "Aww, I wish I could go on a date too," I said. "Stop dreaming, Angie. You and I know that you've got eyes on the number one most popular, handsome, hot, richest and most intelligent guy in high school." Janelle teased, "Come on Janelle, I am not having eyes on him." I defended, "Okay, let's see. If I should mention the name of the guy and you blush, that means it's true but if not, then I will have to agree it isn't true." Janelle said, "I'll call his name now.... Jackson!!!" I tried hard not to blush, but that crazy Janelle made me do so. Aha! I said it. You love him, right? she asked. Who wouldn't love a guy like him? I asked back. Hey Angie give me a straight answer or else i'll write him a love letter in your name she threatened. Oh no Janelle you can't be that cruel. Okay, yes i like him and i wish we could spend the rest of our lives together. I said shyly. "Awwn, so shall your wish come true. That guy is hard to get, but don't worry, He might come to look for you," she assured. Suddenly, we heard the honk of the car. It must be Janelle's parents. ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** Davin got home, pulled up his car at the garage and got off entering into the house. He was thinking about what Janelle said. Hey honey, won't you come and say hello to momma? His mom asked, sitting on the couch with her laptop placed on her lap. I'm sorry mom, he said, moving closer to her. He bent over her and gave her a peck. That's my boy. Hope you aren't bothered by anything, because you look a little pale. His mother asked with concern on her face. No.. nothing mom... I'm fine. he replied, turning to leave. Alright, if you say so, but all I know is that you're good and hiding things away from me. There she goes again so I'll speak up, but damn it, I'm not gonna say a word about this stuff, Davin thought. Mom, I'm off to my room, he said, taking a bow and ascending the stairs. He got to his room and flung himself on the bed. At last, I'm free from mom's questions and tactics of getting me. he muttered aloud. Oh, Janelle, I wish you wouldn't leave. I'm feeling my stomach cramp, he said aloud. Can't wait for tomorrow so I'll get to see her again, he drifted to sleep. ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** Monday morning It was a Monday morning and everyone went about their duties. Angela and Isabel were busy preparing for school. Sometimes I hate Mondays, Isabel complained. Not only you, honey, I do too, but today it will be different. I said aloud. Hurry or we're gonna be late. So we hurried and I dropped her off her school and continued for Sam the driver was there to pick us up and he dropped me off at school. I bumped into a girl while heading to my class. "Sorry," I said. She only nodded and went her way. Back in the class, I met Janelle. "Hey pretty," she called. "Hey Janelle, how do you do?" I asked. "I'm doing well, good morning," she responded with greetings. "Sweet morning," I replied. "Angela, I must confess, you look amazingly hot," she commented, and then came closer and whispered in my ear, "especially as he is here." "Who?" I asked, feeling ignorance. "He," she replied as she nudged me with her elbow. I turned my gaze and found out that Alex Jackson, the Genius, was staring hard at me. I felt my tummy growling and some butterflies swimming in my belly, and there was this kind of feeling I couldn't explain. "Wilson, Angela?" He called out. "Oops, Angie, he just called your full name," Janelle said. "Um, yes, that's me," I responded quickly. "I've got a message for you," he said. I and Janelle exchanged quick glances and I headed slowly to his table. My steps were wobble and funny, for I couldn't believe my crush could call me. I was damn scared, but I had to pretend I wasn't. Yes sir, sorry, yes Jackson, I said again. Miss Ashur asked you to report at her staff room this morning, she said. "Mmm, okay," I responded, though not able to look at his face, for he was like a god, a handsome idol of beauty, and has everything about him, almost perfect. "Is there any problem?" he asked, snapping me out of my thoughts. "Oh no," I responded, "it's fine now, you may go," he said, waving his hand, signaling dismissal. "Thank you," I said. He never responded, anyways, that jerk. I went back to my seat and told Janelle about the message she conveyed to me. Miss Ashur only sends calls like this for serious offenses. I'm scared Janelle I said in fright. Don't be Angela, everything will be fine. You just go see her, she said in a loving manner. That's why I will always miss her. At Miss Ashur's Staffroom Good morning, ma'am, I greeted. Good morning, Angela, to come in. I walked into the staff room. She was the only teacher there at that moment. Did Jackson deliver the message to you? She queried. Yes, ma'am, and that's why I am here, I replied. Wilson Angela, you ought to take heart, for I know this time will be the toughest time you'll ever have to bear and you will need to develop a strong mind and learn this about life, that life is give and take....... I wasn't understanding her message anymore. I wasn't even getting the theme. Then my mind went straight to my parents. Mom and dad told little sis they're coming home in her dream, but she should stay strong. ....But ma'am, I don't understand why you're giving me this kind of encouraging words." I told her with anxiety. "Look," she replied, staring deep into my eyes. I know you can't take it in but the plane which your parents took their flight was said to have crashed and according to one of the flight manager managers he said that there were no survivors. The bodies of your parents have been identified by your family friends.... I cried. No, no, no. This isn't true. No, no, it can't be my parents. Oh God, why have you been unfair to me? I was on the ground now. I couldn't control myself anymore. Many questions and thoughts were running through my head and all I could think of was tears, evil, torment and suffering. How will I live without mom and dad? especially Isabel. How would she cope? I felt a hand around my shoulder and I raised up my already swollen and misty eyes just to see Miss Ashur staring at me with moved pity. It's never the end of the road, dear Angela. We all have our bad times and good times to celebrate. Do not worry, everything will be fine, she encouraged me and patted me and let me out of the office after wiping my tears with a handkerchief. Back At Class I couldn't concentrate anymore. I had already lost my strength and I felt that I was running temperature. I felt a tap at my back. I turned around and saw Janelle. She wore a questioning look on her face. "What's wrong, Angie?" she whispered in my ear. I just sighed and promised to tell her during break. "Wilson Angela," Mr. Mark, the geography teacher, called. I was shaking already. I rose to my feet. "What was my last statement?" he asked. "I... I... I... I didn't get it, sir," I replied stammering. "Sir?" Janelle called out. "Yes, Janelle," I replied. "The girl you asked the question is unwell. She's got a fever," she said on my behalf. "Janelle is such a darling that I don't care losing a life for her." I have never seen a true friend like her kind before. Mr. Mark stared at me for a while. You may have your seats, he said to me. Phew, that was a close one. If Janelle had not saved me, I would have been gone by now because Mr. Mark would just take me down to the authorities.
