The fate

The next day, I got out of bed relaxed, energetic and in a very good mood because the spell I cast on myself took me into a pleasant dream. Last night's dream was a really pleasant one because I had everything I wanted; friends, a home and a purpose in life. It was a nice dream for me because that's what I wanted in my life. Even though the things I wanted are ordinary for other people, for me they could be considered the things I desire. Others want power, money and respect. All I want is to have friends surrounding me, a home and a job to do in life. I put the clothes I wore yesterday on me, and I left my room where I slept. I am heading to the place where the owner is, to hand him the key to the small room I rented tonight. When I arrived there, I saw the owner cleaning the bar: "Oh. Good morning, young boy!" says the bartender to me, and coming to the desk after he finished table cleaning. "Have you slept well?" "Morning," I said to the bartender while I put the keys on his counter. "How much do I have to pay?" "Twenty coins," says the bartender. "Sure." I handed him twenty of my one hundred coins I got from my nun as a token to live in this kingdom (when you leave the Orphanage, you get one hundred gold coins to pay for your living taxes). "By the way, are you searching for a job?" "Yes. As a squire." "Squire?" says the bald guy to me, handing a piece of wood within an address. "I heard some rumors about a warrior looking for help. If you are interested in working as a squire, you should work with her." I took the piece of wood the bartender gave to me and read the address. "Fiona Lunderberg. You can find her in the N-E of the Kingdom of Romania.". Then I looked at the bartender. "Thanks. I'll probably check later." "Nice to help you, little man." I said goodbye to the bartender, I left the Tavern and headed right to that address, but first, I had to make a little detour to the Royal Palace to see if my application as a squire was accepted. If it was, I think I'd put it there, if this one does not work out. *** After almost fifteen minutes of walking, I arrived at the Royal Palace. When I reach those gates that are guarded by guards, I notice an old man coming out of the kingdom palace very depressed. He kept asking someone to help him, but no one around him responded or flinched because some people thought he was crazy or something, mostly because he looked like a man who had left and had never ever done a bath in his entire life. That old man came at me: "H-Hey! I need some help. Can you help me with something? Please!" "W-What?" I said to the old man, who looked at me with a hopeless face. "Some thief stole my money. Please help me, young boy! Please!" said that old man to me and started to cry. "W-Why? The guard can help you, right?" I asked the old man. "They are not here, boy! They are gone to war! If you help me, I'll give you money. Please! Help me!" "Okay. Okay. I will try to help you." "Really?! Thank you!" said the old man while he hugged me. I swear this smell smells worse than boiled eggs with crap on a summer day. But I also felt something weird when he touched me, like as if something was missing. The old man told me some information about that thief. "The mean man is tall, has white hair, and he is mean." " Okay!," I said to the old man, while I started searching for that thief. Trying to find a man who has white hair is not as easy as fishing. While I was walking, I saw a bunch of people who had white hair and were tall. Sometimes, I wish I could have a book about magic. That could help me a lot in this case, but now I have to rely on my instincts. About three or four hours have passed since I searched. I passed by the Square, in the area where I stayed at that hotel and even in some areas where I was, but in vain, I did not find that thief. I went back to the Royal Palace empty-handed and feeling sad because I couldn't help that poor old man. After I arrived back at the palace, I didn't see the old man, just the guardians who were protecting the gates. "Excuse me." I addressed one guardian. "There was an old man here a few hours ago. Have you seen him?" "Old man?" asked the guardian. "An old man who always asks people to find a guy with white hair who steals his money?" "Yeah. That one." I responded to the guardian, surprised. "That's just a ghost, kid." said the other guardian to me and scared. "That man with white hair was killed a few years ago because of a carriage that passed over him on a rainy night while he was running from some guardians with a book." "A book?" I asked the guardian. "He died because of a book?" "That book is not a normal one. Apparently, that book could be controlled by mages, and the man with white hair wasn't even a mage when he died. Anyway, that's an old story, kid. You shouldn't bother with this." "I see. Okay, could I come to the Palace? I have to check if they put my job announcement." "Of course, guardian" says the guardian, letting me enter the palace without even checking the documents because he is the same one as yesterday. I walked straight ahead, I opened the gates, and walked into the Palace entrance. When I entered the palace, I saw a bunch of knights, civilians and merchants walking around the palace and entering different rooms. I looked around to see if there was something that could show me my job announcement. I started to walk around the palace for a few hours, and then I found, after two minutes of searching, a wall covered with parchments with employment announcements, with wanted persons who committed a crime or two, and sales announcements. I went to that wall to see the search for my job announcement. After another two minutes of searching, I found it. I started reading it in my mind for a few minutes: "I'm looking for a job as a squire. I'm a squire asking for shelter. I don't have a weapon, but I can control certain spells. I ask for a hundred coins as salary once every three weeks. ". It's not perfect or worse, but it's good enough to help me find a job. I stayed a few more minutes looking at that wall full of parchments, then I headed to the exit of this palace. After I left the palace, I decided to go to that place which indicated the address on the piece of wood I had been given by the bartender. The worst part about the address is that it is in an area that I have not discovered yet. I didn't even know how I should get there, so I decided to look around for a bit of advice. While I was walking, I saw a carriage that suddenly started to stop twenty meters from me. A woman left the carriage screaming for help, and one guy left the carriage with a knife in his hands, running to the woman. I was about to intervene, but someone stopped me by taking my left hand. I turned and noticed who stopped me from rescuing that lady from a tyrant, a blonde teenage woman. "Leave her." says the blonde lady with a wolf mask. "That woman deserves the punishment she deserves." "The punishment?" I asked the young lady. "W-What do you me-" When I was about to say the rest of that question, I heard that woman scream in pain and agony. This scene attracted civilians who formed crowds of people. And the knights, who were also there, did not interfere, they were watching as that man stabbed the poor lady. That mad man began stabbing the poor woman at least fifteen times with a knife. I looked sadly at that woman who was being stabbed by that beast. What made me feel even sadder was the fact that there were people around me who were also looking helplessly at that woman. When the crazy man has stopped, it immediately runs away, throwing the knife somewhere that won't be found. Then, the knights proceed to run after him, and the crowd of people is slowly disappearing. The young blonde girl took her hand from me and left me just before I asked her what really happened. "What was all this violence? Who was that madman? Who was that poor woman? Who are you?" I asked myself as I followed the masked female. I started to get out of that scene and follow the blonde girl. After I left the place where the crime had happened, I didn't see the young blonde girl who stopped me. I looked everywhere for almost thirty minutes and everything was in vain. I couldn't find that masked stranger. Who was that girl? And why did she stop me helping that lady?
