The next morning brought a calm with it. The sound of rushing water remained constant and a crisp morning mist permeated the air. Kaya opened her eyes yawning. She watched Lucas sleep next to her, a smile frozen on his face. She smiled, gently brushing his golden hair. She breathed in a lung full of fresh morning air, happy to be alive and next to her heart.
“Kaya? What are you two doing out here? Are you insane? You’re going to get sick in your condition!” Maya said, approaching with a grimace of concern.
