Chapter 7: A Game of Chase
After several hours of walking the group had nearly reached the outskirts of Capas. The warm summer breeze swept through the lush forest, rustling the trees around them.
“Can someone please tell me again why we are walking there and not taking a carriage? Or better yet, flying?” Dain groaned.
“Capas isn’t too far away and I thought it best that we walk,” Julius replied.
“What?” Dain exclaimed.
Dorian leaned toward Dain’s ear, cupping his hand. “That probably means that there are so many of us that several carriages would have been required. So, in other words, I think Julius is getting a little cheap on us,” Dorian whispered.
Kaya heard the remark and giggled. Maya was nervous, but Dain’s comment brought a smile to her face.
