CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE
Gabe attempted to listen to Mrs. Warbler but her words never reached his ears. The confrontation with Mick and Bud earlier played through his mind. Charley called it a beginning. I have no clue what he meant, but it sounded good, like maybe he’d make Mick and Bud nice, or even better, they’d transfer to another school. Yeah, does the impossible ever happen?
He threw a quick look at Mick and then Bud. Nope. Charley says he has no authority over the bullies. They left me alone this time, but I’m not kidding myself. They’ll be back for revenge, which means I’d better be ready.
Charley’s golden glow floated overhead. “Remember what I said, Gabe. A beginning.”
At least his angel hung around in case Gabe needed him, like now. “Okay, Charley, I gotcha.” Still a bit worried
