CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO Good luck seemed to follow Gabe all afternoon. As soon as they got home from school, Elena’s mother picked Lindy up to spend the afternoon with them. His sister at her friend’s house and Grandpa at work meant he wouldn’t have to explain his plans to either one. He’d write to each of them later, after he settled somewhere, and explain. Not knowing how long Lindy would be gone, he’d best hurry to avoid facing her with good-byes and explanations.
