Chapter 4 The sun was just coming up as Dale walked out onto the back porch. He felt like he’d been gone longer than a single night. He cradled his cup of coffee in one hand as he leaned on the railing. The thumb of his opposite hand stung slightly. He’d used his pocket knife to cut a tiny gash in it, so he could extract the requisite three drops of blood that released him and Riadh from the globe. Weirdly, it seemed like a rather small price to pay for the hours of relative peace he’d felt there. Riadh walked out and leaned on the railing beside him. “I think I should look into finding a teacher,” said Dale. “And in the meantime, keep sorting all the stuff in the house. Will you help me?” “On which task?” “Both, I was hoping.” “I can try. And when you reach the end of those goals?”
