Chapter 26: Colton's POV
"Scared of making the wrong choice,"
I glanced at her, he was staring straight ahead with her jaw tight.
"Scared of hurting someone," she continued. "Scared of hurting myself."
The words hit me like a physical blow. I could see the weight she was carrying, the burden of a decision she didn't want to make, of a life she never asked for.
"Scared of what exactly?" I asked gently.
She was quiet for a long moment, we pushed through the glass doors and stepped out into the evening air.
"Everything," she said finally.
"I'm scared of everything."
I stopped walking and turned to face her.
"You don't have to have all the answers right now, you just have to take it one day at a time."
She looked at me.
