Chapter 33Lina Face still flushed, Emery departed and Lina suddenly stood alone in Mandy’s kitchen. Through the window she watched Emery’s car pull out of the yard. Salty gave a little woof and Lina realized she still held the sausages in their see-through packaging. Plastic they called it, and it was everywhere. Lina’s mouth watered and she contemplated frying the sausages, but she put them back for the time being. It wouldn’t do to become greedy or, even worse, used to eating when one wasn’t even hungry.
