Emery was under no obligation whatsoever to stay and keep Lina entertained, or to make sure she didn’t put something in the microwave that shouldn’t be there, or any of a million other things she could do to potentially hurt herself or burn the trailer down. Lina wasn’t a child. Okay, maybe she had the understanding of a child in this century, but she was a grown woman. That was part of the problem! So there was no need for Emery to feel guilty about leaving her for a few hours.
