Chapter 7

It was getting awkward in here as the discussion seemed to have stopped completely. No one said a thing as we all just sat there. I decided that I should take that as my queue to get up and leave. I would have liked to stay, but I think I have imposed enough for today. So I stood up and cleared my throat to get their attention. “I better get going. My parents are probably wondering where I am.” I spoke, rubbing the back of my neck. It was only half true because my parents wouldn’t question me about where I was, seeing as I was alpha. But mom would catch a fit if I was not there for dinner for sure. “Thank you again, Kellan, for bringing my daughter home. I hope to see you around some more. Maybe you can join us sometime for dinner?” her mother asked. I will for sure be around much more. I won’t be able to stay away from my mate. But I didn’t tell her that. Instead, I accepted her offer to dinner. “It was no problem at all, ma’am. Dinner sounds nice. Just let me know when you would like to have dinner and I will be there.” I told her. “Please, Kellan, call me Alice? You make me feel old with all the ma’am calling. How does Friday sound?” she said, telling me to call her Alice. “Sure ma’… I mean Alice, Friday is fine with me.” I couldn’t help smiling at the look she gave me when I almost called her ma’am again. “Great, see you around seven.” “I will be off now. Thank you for your hospitality, Alice. I will bring your work after school. Just take it easy, Crystal. Enjoy the rest of your evening.” I bid farewell to both of them. “Bye Kellan. Thank you for the food and everything you are doing for me. I appreciated it so much.” She looks into my eyes as she says this before turning her head away trying to hide her rosy cheeks. She looks so adorable when she blushes. I wanted to hug her with my body but refrained from doing so. Her mother walked with me to the apartment door. I turn to face her outside the door, but what she does next catches me off guard. She embraced me with a tight, loving hug. I did the only thing I could at that moment and return the hug before pulling away and making eye contact with her. The way she looks at me is as if she is looking into the depths of my soul. “Take care, Kellan.” was all she said as she looked at me. I can’t help but feel like she wanted to say more than just that. But I let it go and accepted her wishes for me to stay safe. I nodded my head to her before turning and heading to my car. It was a 30-minute drive back to packlands and I used every minute of that time to think about what punishment would be fit for Stacy. After parking, I made my way to the center of the clearing where a small platform was. But I waited a second or two for the last of the pack to filter in and take their spots. I listened to them as they spoke among themselves, wondering what was going on. I glanced at my watch, and it was a minute to eight. I took to the stage and let my alpha aura roll off me to get everyone’s attention. They quiet down as they waited for me to speak. But I was waiting for my watch to beep before I addressed them. Besides, anticipation was good for them. My beta, Nick, took his place beside me but not before asking me what was going on. “Kellan, what’s going on that you called a pack meeting for?” he asked over link and I forgot he didn’t know, but I guess he will find out with the rest of the pack. “You’ll know in a minute. Is everybody accounted for?” I asked instead. “Yes, Alpha, except for the border patrol.” He answered and I accepted it. “Good. They will be informed about it at the end of their shift, so let’s get this show on the road then.” I said just as my watch beeped. “Good evening everyone. I have called you all here this evening to inform you all that I found your Luna, my mate.” The crowd started to erupt in cheers and howls of joy. They seem to be looking around them as if trying to see someone new that doesn’t belong to the pack. I scanned the crowd until my eyes land on the person this meeting was essential for. I got the crowd to settle again before I continued with my little speech. “She doesn’t know about us yet. She is human. Her name is Crystal and some of you might know who she is. I’m here to tell you that I am not rejecting the goddess' gift now or ever for that matter. She will be at my side and your Luna one day. All I ask of you is to be patient waiting for her to get to terms about us? So those that have a problem with her can either get behind it or leave.” I spoke, making myself clear on the part that she will be a part of this pack. I wasn’t going let her deal with a bunch of sticks in the muds because she is human. If that is the case, they have time to get behind it or search for a new pack before she even gets here. “Now that we have got part one out of the way, as to why I called you all here, let’s move to reason number two. Your Luna was hurt today by a pack member that almost shifted in front of humans.” Everyone let out a string of gasps knowing their Luna was hurt. My eyes found Stacy’s, and she shrunk back under my ice-cold stare towards her. Good, she should know that she f****d up.
