Rejected

Freya," Amelie, another omega and the only person who remained by my side called me. I pause my scrubbing and turn to look at her, squinting my eyes when I'm blinded by the sun's rays. Her golden locks bounce on her shoulders as she walks to me in feathery steps, her lips pulled in a tight line telling me that something had happened. “What's wrong?" I ask her concerned. Amelie was the type that always had a smile on her face, it was not like her to not spot a smile. “It's nothing. Just some pesky flies buzzing around,” She says with a hmph and I chuckle, hiding my true feelings. At times I felt sorry for her. Her life got worse just because she remained with me, she is always picked on for being my friend and I have suggested we stop being friends but she instantly refused. The giggles of girls walking toward us stopped the words that were about to come out of my mouth. I looked at Amelie and she mouthed ‘ignore them’ patiently waiting for them to pass through. “Oops," One of the girls giggles, kicking the bucket and splashing its dirty water on me. “I didn't see you there,” She lies, giggling with her friends. Amelie opens her mouth to speak but I shake my head, stopping her. The girls, who were omegas that were working in the pack house just like us walked past us. Their giggles echoed through the hallway. “Why didn't you let me speak? I would have given her a piece of my mind and fist," Amelie grumbled, her expression showing true concern for me. “I didn't want the bullying to get worse. It's fine." I tell her, smiling up at her. Amelie has always been like this. Coming to my rescue whenever anything happened and getting beaten herself. I can't let her keep standing up for me. “It's fine,” I repeat, cleaning my soapy hands on my already stained shirt. “It's a good thing your birthday is coming up soon. You'd get your wolf and your mate too. That way you'd be able to leave this place,” She sighs in relief. Would I be able to? What if he doesn't want me? Or he hates me? Who would want an omega as a mate? These were the thoughts running in my head, but I didn't say it out. Instead, I smile at her, keeping my thoughts to myself. “Hopefully it's Damien," She whispers, a mischievous glint in her eyes. The look he gave me earlier crossed my mind and I shuddered. I pray not to have Damien as a mate. Damien isn't my biological brother so it would be possible if we ended up as mates but that would never happen! Me? With Damien? There's a better chance of finding a werewolf with wings than seeing that happen. “You are being quiet, does it mean you want Damien as a mate?" Amelie asks me, wiggling her brows at me. Without any second thoughts, I dip my hands into the bucket, flicking my fingers at her. She shrieks and backs away, a burst of laughter dancing on her lips. “I know, I know. You hate him and he hates you. It would be so absurd and unfortunate if you end up with him as a mate,” She laughs and I nod my head. "Besides, Kati would have your head before that even happens,” She tells me, the smile on my lips dying slowly. Kati wants to be the Luna of this pack and it would be the end of me if I even think of getting in her way. Leaving me to finish my chores, Amelie goes back to her chores. The day passed by without much drama happening and soon it was night time already. I was staring out of my little window praying to the moon goddess for a better life in the future. Suddenly feeling thirsty, I put on my slippers, silently creeping out of my room and into the hallway. I needed to go to the kitchen to drink water. It was already past midnight and Alpha Damien would punish me if he found out I went to the kitchen this late. Being as quiet as I could be, I went into the kitchen heading straight for the freezer. Grabbing a bottle of water, I turned the cap about to drink from it when the most delicious smell wafted into my nostrils, pausing me in my tracks. What is that smell? I turned around to see Damien standing by the door and staring at me with disgust in his eyes. The moment our eyes met, my world shifted and everything crumpled under. No, no, no. Please no. “Mate," He growled with disgust, walking to me in large strides and covering the distance between us. "How can something like you be my mate?” He growled harshly, grabbing my arms with both his hands. I gasped in pain, the shock making me drop the bottle I was holding. "You're hurting me,” I cried out, struggling to free myself from his grip. His grip on my arm tightens, his face showing no intention of letting go. He never cared about if he hurt me or not. "What did you do? You used some kind of witchcraft, didn't you? You won't turn eighteen till weeks from now so there is no way we would be feeling this. What. Did. You. Do?” He growled in my face. Why would he think I used witchcraft? Does he think I desperately want to be mated to him? Anger coursed through my veins and I pulled my arms around, pushing him away from me. “I didn't do anything! The day I have been celebrating hasn't been my real birthday. Today might be the day,” I yell angrily, my anger taking over my rationality and making me glare at him. My actions are instantly regretting when his palm makes contact with my cheek sending my face to the side. “You would not talk to me like that. I am your Alpha and you are nothing but a measly mutt who was abandoned by her parents,” He growled at me, my cheek stinging in pain. “I'm sorry Alpha,” I bite out, spitting out the word ‘Alpha’ like it was poison. “I, Alpha Damien Wolfsblood of the bluelake pack reject you Freya as my mate. I don't think the moon goddess knew what she was doing to pair me up with you,”
