I shake my head slowly.
No mate and No wolf. The moon goddess outdid herself.
There was no difference between me and a human right now.
I was weak with no mate or wolf. Who would want me?
“You poor thing," She says sadly, pulling me into another hug.
I had no chance to escape from here. Maybe if I go to the human world I would be able to fit in without any problem.
"What are you going to do now? “ Amelie asks and I just shrug.
I can't tell her that I want to run away, she would either try to stop me or want to come with me.
She has a wonderful wolf and I'm certain her mate would love her, I can't allow her to throw her life away because of me.
If things go my way I might run away tonight.
“Alpha Damien says he wants a feast to be held this night to celebrate his child. You should get to work.” One of the maids says while walking past us.
A feast tonight? That should be the perfect opportunity for me to use and escape.
I would run away tonight.
I started doing my work immediately, I wanted to be done by the time the feast started.
If I was right it would be done at the park square, by the time they realized I was gone it would be too late already.
The preparations for the feast started and everyone got busy.
By the time the feast started, the sun had gone down and the moon was high in the sky.
I quickly finished up the work I had left, rushing back to my room to pack.
With my heart pounding in my chest, I shut my door.
Rushing to my bed, I bring out a worn-out bag from underneath it, packing the little clothes I had into it.
When I was certain I didn't leave anything unpacked, I zipped my bag.
Hiding the bag behind my bed, I leave my room shutting the door behind me once more.
I was halfway down the staircase when I ran into Amelia.
“Woah relax, what's the rush?" She asks when I almost hit her down.
I was in a rush and I didn't see her coming. She was the one I was looking for, I needed to see her before I left.
“What's wrong?" She asks, her eyes going behind me.
“It's nothing, I have something to do so I was… “ I trailed off, unable to find a perfect excuse.
"I was coming to find you. Mrs Ingrid is asking for you. She needs you to do something for her.” She says, smiling softly at me. Mrs Ingrid is the cook and I have no idea why she would suddenly request for me.
I nod my head and start to head down. I pause and turn around.
"Amelie?" I call her and she answers, staring at me confused.
“I just want to say thank you for always being there for me. You're the best sister I could ask for." I say truthfully, my heart ached when I think of life without her.
“Thank you love. But why are you sounding that way?" She asks concerned, her lips forming a frown.
“What way?" I force a chuckle, praying to the moon goddess that I don't cry right now.
“Why do you sound like you are about to leave me?"
“Really? You're just overthinking it. I should head out now, I will see you later, “ Excusing myself, I rush down the staircase while wiping the tears from my eyes.
When I got to the kitchen, Mrs Ingrid immediately shot me a death glare.
“The most you can do is carry your weight around here. Don't be useless,” She scolds me, throwing insults at me too.
I keep my mouth shut as I stare at her, waiting for her to tell me what to do.
I'm certain she would be happy after I leave.
“Cut everything on the table, after that you can get out." She orders and I immediately get to work.
Swiftly I cut the vegetables she had left for me, rushing it through.
Ten minutes later I was done. Without even waiting for her to speak I rushed out of the kitchen, going to my room.
I immediately go to my bed, taking the bag out and slinging it over my shoulder.
I wouldn't miss this room.
Turning around, I had just taken a step when my door slammed open, the pack warriors rushing in.
What's happening? Why are they here?
I am filled with a sense of fear when the soldiers circle me, each of them glaring at me with hateful stares.
“You are under arrest for a murder attempt on the life of our Luna Freya." One of them says, grabbing my hand roughly.
What? Murder attempt? What were they talking about?
Someone is trying to frame me.
"I didn't do it. I swear, “ I scream, struggling to free myself from their grasp but it was of no use.
This was my only chance to escape from this hell hole, I can't lose it.
Damien walks into the room and the soldiers quiet down, parting for him to walk to us.
His eyes held so much anger and hatred as he stared at me.
“All these years, I have only shown you mercy when I should have killed you. And this is how you repay me? By killing my unborn child purely because of hatred. “ He spat out in anguish and I shook my head, words seeming to fail me at this moment.
"I-I didn't do it,” I cried out, trying to get him to believe me.
I really didn't.
A smack is heard as my head turns to the side, my cheek stinging.
"Search the room. The poison she used is here.” Damien orders and the soldiers immediately get to work searching around.
Damien finally sees the bag that I had dropped earlier and he picked it up, opening it.
"Stop-” I try to stop him, but he ignores me, emptying the entire contents on the floor.
" You tried to run away? You killed my child and tried to run away? What other proof do I need? I would make you regret it,” Damien swore, gripping my throat tightly.
"I-I,” I struggled to speak as tears streamed down my eyes, my face turning blue due to the lack of air.
He pushes me away and I fall to the floor, gasping for air.
“Alpha we found it," One of the soldiers says, holding up a blue bottle.
How did that get here? Someone must be trying to frame me.
“What? That's not mine. I swear that's not mine. Someone is trying to frame me,” I cry, holding Damien's feet while begging.
“The proof is right there and you still deny it? Okay then, let me see how you would deny this one. Someone had testified against you earlier. Come in.” Damien called out to whoever was standing outside the door, making me raise my head to see who had told Damien I poisoned Kati.
To my utmost surprise and disbelief, Amelie walked into the room looking terrified.
Amelie?
“Say exactly what you told me earlier," Damien tells her and she nods her head, a sad look on her face.
“Earlier today, Freya was angry because Luna had gotten pregnant with your child. She told me she was going to poison the Luna, I swear I thought she was just joking. I didn't know that she would…” She trails off, her facial expression looking sad, showing no traces of lying.
“Amelie!" I screamed, pushing myself up from the floor.
She immediately hid behind the alpha, trembling in fear.
How could she?
“Did they threaten you to do this? Tell him the truth. Tell him they are threatening you to say all these. Tell him I didn't do it," I cried, begging.
My eyes widened in shock when Amelie poked her head from behind the Alpha, a mocking smile on her face.
“Loser," She mouthed.
