Jade's POV:
I just couldn't stop staring at this tiny spitting image of me sleeping so sound. To say I was overwhelmed would be an understatement. Although I have always wanted a girl, now I just couldn't care if it was a girl or a boy as long as the child was mine.
Ella was yet to wake up, but the doctor said she was doing just fine and that she just needed to rest. I just couldn't wait for her to wake up and see our child.
We could call him Lucas or Scott or Kendrick. It all depends on which one she prefers.
Just while I was pacing up and down waiting for her to wake up, Mother came in looking like a child who had just been given her favourite candy.
I couldn't blame her though, this is all she has ever wanted. Especially because a
he didn't expect it to happen this fast.
If someone had told me this would have happened anytime soon I would have laughed so hard.
"I flew in immediately I heard. Right now, I am the happiest person on the planet earth. Let me have a look at my grandchild." she said.
"Mother calm down. You'll wake both mother and child."
"You can't blame me. I can't contain he joy. Oh, It's a boy. My God, He looks so much like you he even has your eye colour. He surely got those curls from his mother. How's she doing? " she asked.
"I am surprised you remember his mother who happens to be my wife."
" Did you just say your wife?" She said.
"Yes, I did. Can we talk about this later.?
" What's his name?" She questioned.
"We are yet to decide."
"The child looks small though. Why is that? " she asked.
"Ella's due date should have been in three weeks, but the baby couldn't wait I guess and so couldn't I."
I move closer to her immediately I notice she's sweating profusely and tears are dropping from her eyes in her sleep. Could she be having a bad dream.?
Just as I'm about to touch her body to confirm if she is okay and not running temperature, she opens her eye, looks towards mothers direction and began to panic and kept on saying "please don't take my baby" repeatedly
I couldn't even move because I was trying to understand what she meant by that and what exactly was going on. Why would she think mother would try and take her child away.
Mother's reaction didn't go well with me She just stayed frozen on a spot staring at me like a child who got caught red-handed
This must be a bad dream. She must have woken up from a bad dream where she dreamt that an elderly woman was trying to take her child probably. Yes. It's all clear to me now. She had a bad dream where an elderly woman tried to take her baby.
It takes a genius to put the puzzles together. I almost thought Mother wanted to take her child. You can't blame me though. I trust my mother to the core but the expression on her face almost had me thinking twice there.
"Babe you had a bad dream. Nobody is taking your baby, Our baby not while I am still alive. Rest let him bring him to you."
The way she held him so close to herself had me thinking to what extent would the dream have been. Moments after she had calm down, I decided to bring up the naming of our child.
"I picked out three names we could give him, Kendrick, Lucas or Scott. Which do you prefer?"
We finally settle with Kendrick. The nurses had carried out necessary medical steps with the baby while she was asleep.
I practically watched the whole process of her giving birth to our child. The grip with which she used to hold my hands was one I couldn't describe.
The baby instantly began searching for her breast. Right then she pulled up her hospital gown and guided the baby to her breast.
Mother had been so quiet all along. She must have felt insulted and embarrassed. I usually don't like when mother is this quiet. Two things are always involved.
It's either She wants me to do something in her favour or she was scheming something in her head. I better apologize for Ella's reaction.
"Mother please I would like to have a word with you outside."
