Chapter 1: The Wedding Night Betrayal
I should have known my marriage was a mistake the moment my husband refused to kiss me. The room felt suffocating, the silence heavier than anything I had ever experienced. I sat at the edge of the massive bed, still dressed in my wedding gown, my fingers tightly clutching the fabric as if it could somehow hold me together. This wasn’t how it was supposed to be. This marriage was meant to save my family. So why did it feel like I had just destroyed myself instead? The door creaked open, and my heart skipped. I quickly stood up, forcing a small, nervous smile. But the moment I saw him… my breath caught. He wasn’t alone. A tall, beautiful woman walked in behind him, her heels clicking confidently against the floor as if she belonged here more than I did. My smile faded instantly. “W-what is this?” My voice trembled despite my effort to stay calm. My husband didn’t answer me immediately. He simply loosened his tie, his expression cold and completely uninterested. “She’s staying,” he said flatly. My chest tightened painfully. “Staying? This is our wedding night.” He finally looked at me—but there was no warmth in his eyes. Only irritation. “Don’t make this difficult,” he muttered. “This marriage means nothing. You got what you wanted—money for your family. That’s all this was.” Each word hit harder than the last. Before I could respond, the woman beside him laughed softly, wrapping her arm around his. “Did you really think he would choose you?” she mocked, her eyes filled with amusement. Something inside me cracked. Tears burned at the back of my eyes, but I refused to let them fall. Not here. Not in front of them. “Get out,” my husband suddenly said. For a moment, I thought he meant her. But then he looked directly at me. “You heard me. Leave.” My heart dropped. This was my wedding night. My room. And yet… I was the one being thrown out. Without another word, I turned and walked toward the door, each step heavier than the last. But just as I reached for the handle— The door opened. I froze. A man stood there. Tall. Composed. Dangerous. His presence filled the room instantly, his sharp gaze scanning everything before settling on me. “Interesting,” he said calmly. “So this is how you treat your new wife?” My husband stiffened. “This is none of your business.” The man ignored him completely. Instead, he stepped closer… stopping right in front of me. My breath hitched. Up close, he was even more intimidating. “Tell me,” he said quietly, his voice low and controlled, “do you want to stay… or leave?” I couldn’t answer. Couldn’t think. All I knew was that everything about him screamed danger. And yet… For the first time that night— I didn’t feel invisible.
