The rejection
The rejection
Isabella POV
I had just returned from work, exhausted and desperate for rest.
The day’s activities had drained every strength left in me. It had been one of the busiest days imaginable.
Just as I was about to lie down, a knock sounded on the door.
Today was the day Alpha Lucian would return from his three-day business trip. My heart immediately filled with joy at the thought of seeing my handsome Alpha again. Maybe tonight, after days apart, I would finally feel loved by him once more.
Despite my exhaustion, I quickly fixed
myself up, ready to welcome him warmly.
“The door is open, Alpha Lucian,” I called happily as I stood from the bed, ready to embrace him.
“Mrs. Isabella… It's me. Beta Harrison.”
The excitement inside me instantly faded.
“Come in,” I replied slowly, suddenly feeling uneasy.
Harrison stepped inside with a serious expression.
“Alpha Lucian ordered me to ask you to pack your things and leave the Alpha house immediately.”
For a moment, I thought I had heard him wrong.
“Leave… the house?” I asked quietly, staring at him in disbelief.
“Yes,” Harrison answered coldly. “Alpha Lucian is returning tonight with his newly wedded wife. He does not wish to see you here when he arrives.”
A nervous laugh escaped my lips.
“Please tell me this is some kind of prank, because it sounds exactly like one.”
“It is not a prank, Mrs. Isabella,” Harrison replied. “Alpha Lucian married Sophia during his trip.
They will arrive within the next thirty minutes. I advise you to leave before things get worse.”
The words shattered something inside me.
“So the rumors were true…” Tears gathered in my eyes. “His affair with Sophia… it was all true.”
“You need to leave now,” Harrison added impatiently. “Do not make this difficult for me.”
My legs weakened as I slowly sat on the edge of the bed.
“Mrs. Isabella,” he warned again, “please don’t force me to drag you out myself.”
The seriousness in his voice made my body tremble. My hands shook violently while my legs struggled to stand.
I couldn’t believe this was reality.
If today had been my birthday, I would have thought Lucian was preparing some cruel surprise for me.
But this was no joke.
“Guards!” Harrison suddenly called.
At that exact moment, the sound of a car echoed outside the mansion.
Lucian had arrived.
My heart raced as I rushed outside, nearly tripping over myself in desperation.
Then I saw her.
Sophia stood beside Alpha Lucian proudly, her hand wrapped around his arm.
My world stopped.
“So it’s true…” I whispered painfully.
Lucian looked at me with disgust.
“What are you still doing here, Isabella?” he snapped. “I expected your pathetic self to be gone before I returned.”
I stared at him in complete disbelief.
“After everything I sacrificed for you?” My voice cracked. “After I saved your life with my blood? After I gave up my wolf to protect you and this pack?”
The painful memory flashed through my mind instantly.
The night Lucian nearly died.
The entire pack had watched helplessly as poison destroyed his body from within. No healer could save him.
But my blood did.
A single drop from me healed the fatal wound no one else could cure.
And to keep his wolf alive during the attack, I sacrificed mine.
I became wolfless to save him.
Yet now, the same people who once praised me looked at me with mockery.
Lucian laughed bitterly.
“Were you ever truly a wolf?” he mocked. “Did you really sacrifice anything?”
Every word pierced my heart.
“For five years, Isabella, you failed to give me an heir,” he continued harshly. “All my efforts with you were wasted.”
“But the doctors said nothing is wrong with me!” I cried. “They said I could still give you a child!”
Sophia suddenly touched her stomach possessively and smiled.
Lucian wrapped an arm around her proudly.
“She’s carrying my pup,” he announced. “Sophia gave me what you never could. She’s also a powerful she-wolf who can defend this pack.”
At that moment, I felt completely broken.
Everything I had sacrificed for five years slipped through my fingers like sand.
“Five years, Lucian…” tears rolled down my cheeks.
“Five years of loyalty, sacrifice, and love… and this is how you repay me?”
Before Lucian could answer, another car pulled into the compound.
Xavier.
Lucian’s younger brother stepped out with a smirk on his face.
“Finally,” he mocked, “the wolfless b***h is leaving.”
Instead of calming the situation, Xavier only made it worse.
“She has no place in this pack,” he added.
Then he stepped closer to me and lowered his voice.
“I asked you many times to spend the night with me whenever Lucian traveled,” he whispered cruelly. “But you kept pretending to be loyal. Now look where your loyalty got you.”
“Shut up, Xavier!” I shouted angrily. “You’re only supporting your brother because I refused to sleep with you!”
“Lies!” Xavier immediately yelled. “Why would I ever lower myself for a useless wolfless woman like her?”
I stared at him in shock.
“Have you forgotten so quickly?” I asked painfully. “I healed you when that terrible fever almost destroyed your wolf.”
“Even then,” Lucian interrupted coldly, “you still don’t belong here.”
Then Lucian suddenly grabbed my wrist tightly.
“I, Alpha Lucian of the Red Moon Pack, reject you as my mate.”
Pain exploded through my chest.
But I refused to answer.
Lucian’s eyes darkened dangerously.
“Accept the rejection and leave this pack!” he roared.
“Not after everything I’ve done for you!” I cried. “If you want me gone, then return everything I sacrificed! Return my wolf! Return the five years I gave this pack!”
My voice echoed through the compound.
“Accept it now,” Xavier threatened, “or we’ll force you to.”
I looked around at the faces surrounding me.
Not one person stood beside me.
Not one.
I finally realized staying here would only destroy me further.
Slowly, I lifted my trembling head.
“I… accept your rejection.”
The mate bond snapped instantly.
The pain nearly brought me to my knees.
And that night, broken, betrayed, and wolfless…
I walked away from the Red Moon Pack alone.
