Sin of Lust by Swapie Achilles
CHAPTER XXXII
OCTOBER
“Lushes is not a w***e!” he defended her, to which made Blanche angrier, kneeling him once more on his abdomen, yet this time he doesn’t have in his stomach to throw up thus he just howls his guts out.
“You have the audacity to call a woman who wants nothing from you but your so-called wealth? And yet it’s your father’s.” She stood up, looking down on him with her fists clenched tight.
“Do you know how proud he is that you are his child? That you’re one of the defense systems, one of the strong wizards that were tasked to protect the city? Do you know how proud he is to have you?” she asked him but Loxo couldn’t reply for he’s too occupied by the pain in his stomach.
“Do you have any shame in you? Not for you but for your father.” Blanche’s lip trembles, she wanted to tell him how pain he went through from all his selfish demands.
But she was stopped when a cold and calloused hands hold hers. She looks back from her shoulder only to see Nado looking at her with the same smile he wore all this time.
He shook his head to indicate for Blanche to stop and let him be.
Just as requested, even if Blanche wanted to strangle him, she stood down and watch as Nado kneeled in front of him. He wipes the dirt off of his son’s face and put the satchel on the ground in front of him, “Are you alright?” he asked.
He didn’t even get angry nor any sign of hatred towards him.
“I’m sorry boss, for the interruption, here’s my debt to you. Thank you for lending me money.” He said before walking away.
Leaving Loxo astounded and at the same time devastated as he watches the back of his father getting smaller the further he walks away.
Blanche followed him, “why did you do that?!” she asked, brisk walking in his way.
“What do you think is the merit of what you have done?” she flailed her hands around. “He got what he deserves and yet you…” her small tantrums were interrupted when Nado spoke.
“I…” Nado stops from his tracks, “I really love my son, and I’m more than willing to do anything if that what makes him happy.” He whispered and his shoulder starts to tremble as he tried to swallow his noticeable sobs.
“So please, don’t hurt him.” He pleaded, “I don’t know what I would do if I lost him too.” There’s no rain but there are droplets of water drenching ground beneath him.
“But that doesn’t give him a reason to do that to you!” she makes her point.
“Yes, he can.” He replied. “Because I did that to his mother, to my own wife.” He whispered.
And this made Blanche grew silent.
“My wife, Rea is such a beautiful woman, she was loved by all.” He said.
“Was?” Blanche took a mental note.
“But an accident happens that destroys her beauty yet save the both of us. And that was when I started to hate her, I told everyone that my wife has died and started to sleep with numerous women. Even though she’s alive and in need of me,” he told her.
“I failed as a husband because I make her felt neglected and unloved. I’m the reason why she died,” he said, clenching his fist while he remembers the figure of his wife hanging on their ceiling while his son- who’s barely reaching the door knob- is trying his best to reach for his mom while he’s crying.
“So, it’s alright.” He turns his head, “let me feel the pain that my wife has suffered because of me.” And just like that…he left. “This is my atonement.”
Leaving Blanche confused from all of it.
“Wait, this can’t be right.” She muttered, “there’s still a solution here.”
“Wait!” Blanche yelled out but to her surprise someone also said the same thing on the same time.
Ans when she looks back to see whose voice it is, Loxo ran passed her.
“Dad!” he shouted, his hand is reaching for him.
Nado turns his back when he called him, “Loxo?”
“Dad!” he shouted once again, and this time he didn’t think twice to throw himself on him, hugging him while his tears cascaded on his eyes. He called him over and over again.
“Loxo…” Nado whispered as he caresses his son’s head, so gentle as if he’s caressing a head of a neonate, and his tears began to cascade as well.
“I hate you…” Loxo cried on his shoulder yet still hugging him, burying his face on the nook of his neck, “I really hate you.”
“I know.” Nado replied, “I know my son, and you have the very right to do so.”
“You were the reason why mom died.” Loxo chokes on his sobs, his snots mixing with his tears, “you ashamed her.”
“Yes, I did.” The father didn’t deny the accusation because he too is tired of everything. All he wanted is for his son to forgive him. “I’m sorry.” He whispered.
“T-That’s…” Loxo sobs, “that’s the only thing that I want to hear from you ever since.” He pulled away from his chest and wipes his tears away from his eyes.
“Stop crying,” he said to his son, “your partner will think you’re a crybaby.” He chuckled.
But his response made Nado’s eyes wide open, “If she can’t accept you, then I don’t want her.” He said, “that’s why, I’m sorry too dad.”
“I will make it up to you.” Once again, he hugs his father. “I promise.”
Blanche can’t help but let out a smile when she saw how they forgive each other.
