She eyes me curiously, and for a second, I get scared that she doesn’t believe my words. But then, she nods, and I immediately let out a breath I had no idea I was holding. We finally reach my locker. In it, new textbooks are already stocked, along with notebooks and a fancy fountain pen. “The school provides basically everything,” Elena says, pride seeping into her tone. “My father controls most of the school board, so we make sure of it. With me by your side, you’ll basically be walking around with immunity.” A small smile crawls up my cheek at the thought of having this goddess as my first friend. And more so, my eyes lit up at the utilities in my locker. But I bit down hard against showing my growing excitement too much. The last thing I need is to seem like a country bumpkin, being all excited for owning her own fountain pen. Suddenly, screams of excitement and commotion break out ahead of us in the large hallway. Students seem to be gathering ahead for some reason. “What’s going on?” I ask, jumping on my tiptoes to get a glimpse, but I’m too short to see anything. However, Elena takes my hand, and we don’t need to force our way through the crowd because the students just let her pass between them like she’s a queen of some sort. I’m confused and almost ask again, but then, the whole room goes dead quiet. as three handsome guys walk right in through the front door. My breath is immediately caught in my throat as I stare at three gorgeous, godlike beings with chiseled abs building through their shirts, gracing us with their presence. They’re almost bouncing in with pure power, easily dominating the room. The first on the right has tanned skin and is extremely tall, the tallest of the three, with curly brown hair. Amber eyes that appear almost golden dazzle me along with his face. The second on the left has dirty blonde hair and alluring emerald eyes that look like actual glistening gems. He has softer features that make him seem friendlier than the two. But the one in the middle is who really had all the attention. - the one who also has my heart skipping a beat. Right there, reeking of arrogance and danger, is the same guy I’d seen a week ago, just outside the school. He’s even more gorgeous up close. Perhaps the most attractive guy I have ever seen. His jet-black hair is gelled back and appears sleek, bringing out more of his beautiful face. His perfect pink lips remain stiff in his uninterested gaze, and his empty gray eyes are hardened, staring at nothing and no one in particular. Something about him has my heart pulsing faster and the breath leaving my lungs. Even my wolf feels this. The man walks like he owns the whole damn place, and no one, not even the moon goddess herself, could challenge his effortless dominance. As they walk past us, I immediately notice heads begin to bow one by one, paying reverence to the three boys—as if they are to be worshiped. It’s weird, and I’m confused as to why that’s happening. That is until I realize that I’m the only wolf left standing. Soon, the three boys are a few feet away from me, and my eyes collide with the one in the middle. Dull brown against emotionless gray orbs. The intimidating guy halts in his steps, and an irritated scowl twists his gorgeous face. For a nanosecond, he tilts his head and watches me like I’m an alien, then a frown creases his forehead too soon. “You.” I look around me, trying to figure out if he’s talking to me or someone standing right behind me. But behind me is a wall. Shocker. “Me?” I point to myself. He ignores my question. “You’re the new girl, right?” He asks in an unimpressed tone, yet his alluring gaze beckons softly to my wolf. The pressure from his dominating aura is much stronger than the rest, but I maintain my stance. “What gave it away?” I smile nervously. The feel of his heavy eyes on me tickles, and something foreign flutters inside me in a good way. “Your obvious cluelessness sticks out like a sore thumb. It’s embarrassing.” His words shock me, and I’m almost dumbfounded. “Excuse me?” “As a senior here, it’s my duty to educate air-headed she-wolves like yourself. Now rule number one, new girl: when you see me, you bow.” He grits out, his eyes cold and no hint of emotion on his face. The power from him reverberates through the air straight to me, thick and intimidating, like he’s trying to suppress and get me to bow down to him. I’m taken aback by his audacity immediately. I soon realize just what he really is— a narcissistic jerk with nothing more to offer than a good-looking face. My change in facial expression seems to amuse his blonde friend as he suddenly looks at me like I’ve grown a third head. “Clearly you don’t know a thing about manners to even claim to be able to educate anyone.” I say, placing a hand on my hip and sending him a death glare. His eyes widen for a quick second, like he’s not expecting to be talked back to, but I don’t care. I’m too pissed to care. “I’m not going to bow to some pretty-faced asshole just because everyone’s doing it.” I retorted. The crowd still bowing around us suddenly gasps in shock. I immediately realize where I am and the situation I’m in. Somehow, I’ve unconsciously dragged all attention on me. Just great. My immediate thought that follows is to flee. Gratefully the school bell rings, signaling for the first period. I don’t wait for a second more. I turn and run off, away from the watching eyes of everyone, turning a corner and into an empty closet room, catching my breath. For some reason, his bewildered face lingers on my mind. I already know the person to avoid the most if I’m going to blend in.
