Since the day I took the elixir from the wizard, things have taken a very drastic turn.
Mother and father had changed, and not just them, but my siblings as well. They still glared and scowled at me, but they never made a violent move or raised a hand or their voices.
It’s like a dream, like I had finally been recognized somehow.
But deep down, I don’t feel so different. Deep down, I know that I’m still a weak, disregarded Omega.
One who’s very good at pretending and playing the part of an Alpha.
One who runs high on the risk of being exposed and killed if caught.
I can’t afford to blow my cover or return to the meaningless life of an Omega.
In a week’s time, my request to join Crescent Moon Academy had finally been accepted after an interview.
It is a known law that any and every child from the Alpha bloodline must attend the prestigious academy befitting their status to hone their strengths and talents to the fullest. Nothing has ever made me feel more elated!
And finally, here I am at Crescent Moon Academy.
a generous grin remained stuck to my face as I sat excitedly in the administrator’s office, twiddling my fingers together nervously.
It’s my first day here, so it’s to be expected, but it doesn’t calm my nerves as much as I hope it would.
The door pulls open, and I quickly stand to my feet.
I try to remind myself to stay confident—hold my head high and keep eye contact.
Alphas are known to be arrogant and confident with an unearthly elegance, and nothing shows elegance in the way I rise too quickly, almost falling to my feet from clumsiness.
“This is Elena Crescent, our top honor student.” The administrator smiles warmly, gesturing towards the fairy-like girl that had followed her into the room.
I can’t help but stare at her; my eyes linger for more than a few seconds. She’s around my age with a bright smile. she’s gorgeous. Almost like a goddess.
Full head of shimmering, golden blonde hair that cascades down in bouncy waves, baby blue doe eyes, a slender nose, and perfect heart-shaped lips. She’s taller than I am, maybe due to the fact that she was clearly an alpha and has a perfectly curvy figure.
“Hi, you must be Freya. Welcome to Crescent Moon Academy!”
She stretches out her slender hand in my direction, and I take it instantly.
Everything about her, from her stance and posture, speaks volumes on a true Alpha female and everything I wish to be. It literally oozes from her—the sophistication and class, the overwhelming pressure of her superiority.
“She’s the daughter of our greatest benefactor to the school and the future Luna of the Blood Moon pack. She’s also your roommate for the year.”
“Hey.” My greeting comes out a little too hushed, and I clear my throat a bit before speaking again in a more assured tone, a quick smile following. “Nice to meet you, Elena.”
She nods, never losing her beautiful smile.
“We’re halfway through the semester already, but she will help you adjust well to the school system.” The administrator also adds.
“Okay, thank you.” I nodded fast.
“I’ll leave you two to get acquainted.”
I nod again as the older lady walks out of the office, leaving just the two of us there.
It gets awkward quickly. I don’t know what to say or do, but I sure as hell don’t want to appear weak or shy.
An Alpha isn’t shy or awkward.
“Freya, huh? Follow me; let’s get your school schedule and your assigned locker.” She speaks very friendly, and I’m immediately grateful for the save.
We step into the vast hallway with extremely tall walls, murals, and paintings. Everything about this school speaks of royalty, and it only fills me with an extreme happiness for finally being here.
A few students walk by us, and I notice that almost everyone is taller than I am; the shortest females are a few inches taller than me. So my physique alone could expose me if I’m not careful. We head to the secretary’s office, and I get my schedule and the key to my locker.
I look down at the golden key in my hands that now belongs to me for the remainder of my years at the academy, and I stare at it like it’s some precious treasure.
“What school did you go to before coming here?”
I’m pulled from my thoughts as Elena attempts to start small talk with me.
“We’ve never really had an Alpha student getting admitted in the middle of a semester, so the whole school is actually buzzing to know your story.”
My heart drops. That’s definitely not good.
The plan was to lay low and blend in as much as possible. The more I stand out, the more curious glances I would get when they start noticing I can’t do much of what a typical Alpha can do.
I immediately think of a lie.
“I was homeschooled. My parents are pretty protective of me, but I got fed up and wanted a change of environment, so I pushed to come here, and they finally let me.”
Wow, even the devil would be proud of how flawlessly the lies fell from my lips. It’s a perfect cover because I don’t have to fake records of some other school I’ve never attended.
