Chapter 2

Satin couldn't move an inch as Nebula was walking away. She felt her whole body grow cold and thought she would cry. Nebula had just helped her. She said she would have done the same for anyone but she helped her nonetheless. And despite everything she was leaving her for Imeena again. She watched Nebula hug and comfort the crying child with shaking hands. This was so unfair. Why couldn't it be Satin? Why couldn't Nebula smile at her too? Why couldn't she hug her and comfort her? Why did she look at her with such cold eyes? She wanted Nebula's love too. She yearned for it with all her heart. What did she have to do to make her smile at her? She wanted Nebula to be happy by her side. Satin was waiting for the sisters to come every day and would follow them around while staring at Nebula. Imeena seemed to really like this new turn of events and continued blushing the whole day but Nebula on the other hand couldn't stop frowning. She only smiled when her sister looked her way and would go back to pouting the next. Satin could perfectly read what she was thinking but couldn't stop following her. After a few weeks, Nebula went back to ignoring Satin and the crown princess didn't understand why she was being so obsessed with Nebula. It took her days to understand and it was only thanks to her maids who were talking about how much Imeena loved her. It was the first time that Satin really looked at Imeena that day and she noticed how she was acting around her. Imeena couldn't stop staring at Satin and would blush every time Satin looked her way. What shocked Satin was that she acted the same way around Nebula. She couldn't stop staring at her and felt strange every time Nebula turned in her direction. She never looked at her and Satin was dying for her to pay attention to her. As they were drinking tea together, Nebula noticed that her sister's cup was empty and quickly served her more tea which made Imeena smile. The next second, Satin swallowed her boiling tea in one go and extended her empty cup towards Nebula. The maids got scared because of how hot the tea was and wanted to check on Satin but the crown princess just pushed them away, still staring at Nebula. The latter finally looked at Satin and frowned while staring at the cup. She didn't move an inch and just continued staring without budging. Satin crumbled under Nebula's gaze but at the same time felt happier than ever. She put her cup down defeated and thought she would cry but at the same time she could still feel Nebula looking at her and wanted to laugh. The maids didn't understand what was going on and thought Satin was sick therefore taking her away. Satin wanted Nebula to stay longer but this had been the longest interaction they ever had and she kept replaying the scene again and again in her mind. The next day Nebula decided to make a flower crown for her sister which made Imeena beam. Seeing the little girl with something Nebula made on her head, Satin thought she would go crazy. She wanted to rip Imeena's hair out and keep that crown forever. She had to cast a spell on it so that the flowers would never wither. She was ready to snatch it away but Nebula was quicker and slapped Satin's hand away. The servants gasped and yelled at Nebula saying that she couldn't hit the crown princess. Nebula just stared at them not one bit sorry and seeing her sister get reprimanded, Imeena started crying. Satin hated that kid. Why was she so loud? And how dare people reprimand Nebula? Satin was so angry that she fired everyone on the spot. The two sisters stared at her bewildered: "You can't do that." Nebula finally talked to her! Satin thought she would faint. "You can't fire people without a reason. -Okay." And so the maids weren't fired. Nebula didn't understand why the crown princess was acting so weird and just did her best to go back to her sister. But Satin was always interrupting them. When they would read a book, Satin would sit between the two. Nebula wanted to say something but Imeena seemed very happy to be next to Satin so she held back. When they would do a running competition, Satin wouldn't hold back from pushing Imeena to the ground so she would be the only one running with Nebula. The latter of course immediately went to help her sister and Satin stayed alone, pouting. Satin always wanted to be the only one in Nebula's eyes and feeling observed by the crown princess, Nebula finally turned towards her. It wasn't on purpose. It was only a reflex just like how people did when they felt stares. Satin, who had been waiting for this for days, shyly turned away and found herself in front of a mirror. That was when she saw her expression. Was she smiling? Was that her face? Did she ever look like this? And why were her cheeks so red? Satin suddenly thought back to the way Imeena was acting around her and froze. She loved Nebula. She loved her with all her heart and that was why she felt so strange every time Nebula looked her way. Having realized this, Satin finally had something that she liked and she put all her energy into getting closer to Nebula. She couldn't lose her. Never. And most of all, not to that annoying child. But for some reason Nebula seemed to dislike the crown princess a lot. Did she ever say something mean to Nebula? Did she ever do anything wrong? Satin would spend hours retracing their every interaction to understand what she did wrong. One day, the solution came to her on her own two feet. Imeena came up to Satin one morning and extended her a flower she had plucked. Satin didn't care one bit about her gift and looked away. Imeena felt bolder that usual and insisted: "Excuse me... This is for you..." Satin frowned: "I don't want anything from you." Apart from one thing. And she would take it by all means. Imeena looked down holding back tears: "I am sorry..." She quickly ran away and Satin went back to her thoughts but soon after Nebula came up to her too. Satin froze and felt her whole body warm up dangerously. Were her cheeks red? How was her hair? Was she pretty? Did nebula notice how red she was? Would she say something? "You should be nice to Imeena. She is an adorable person and doesn't deserve to be treated like this." Satin felt devastated. This was their first real conversation and Nebula had stopped ignoring her for Imeena. Imeena. Imeena. It was always her. Satin hated that girl so much. Why did Nebula have only eyes for her? Couldn't she look her way for once? What did she see in that stupid kid? After having said what she needed, Nebula walked away. Despite having tried keeping her sister away from Satin, Imeena loved the crown princess so much that Nebula couldn't succeed. Therefore she had to change her plans. She hated the crown princess for being mean to her sister so much and couldn't stay silent anymore. If Imeena didn't want to stay away from Satin, then she had to threaten the latter. She wouldn't hold back just because she was the crown princess. She would even go to prison if she had to. No one would silence her ever. Every time Satin said something mean or ignored the poor little girl, Nebula would come up to the crown princess and tell her what she did wrong. Satin wanted to be liked by Nebula but on the other hand, she liked finally having Nebula pay attention to her. Being mean to Imeena made Nebula talk to her but it was only harsh words and her ordering Satin to apologize, which she always did. Satin couldn't go against Nebula's words. She was so focused on Nebula that Satin couldn't even see Imeena most of the time. One day as Imeena was playing next to Satin, her ribbon came loose and got blown away by the wind. Satin had been trained since a young age and only caught it by pure reflex not one bit wanting to help Imeena. She was so focused on Nebula smiling to a guard that she didn't even notice what she had done. What woke her up was Nebula looking their way and smiling. Was she dreaming? Impossible! Nebula had smiled at her! At her! Finally! Quickly what had she done? She needed to do it again. Satin looked around and noticed that Imeena was thanking her for catching her ribbon. She looked back at Nebula and then at Imeena again. Was that it? No, it couldn't be. The next day, Imeena felt bolder because of the recent event and came up to Satin with a cookie. Satin didn't want to accept anything from this annoying creature and was ready to push her away when she heard: "My sister made them." The next second Satin had swallowed the whole cookie without leaving a crumb. Everyone froze. Not even Imeena expected Satin to accept her gift and for a second everyone held back their breaths. Was Satin okay? Did something happen? Imeena was very happy that her cookie got accepted and beamed while giving Satin another one. The crown princess couldn't stop eating and seeing her sister happy, Nebula smiled at them. Satin almost choked seeing that miracle. She didn't care about Imeena one bit but she noticed that when she was being nice to her, Nebula would smile at her and that made her heart skip a beat. Therefore Satin pretended to like Imeena and did her best to be nice to her fiance just so Nebula would like her. In fact, months after their meeting, Nebula finally started warming up to Satin and even smiled at her and played with her as well as her sister. Satin thought she was in paradise and did her best being the nicest possible to Imeena. The little sister finally felt loved and thought her crush finally liked her too but had no idea what was really going on. Being so happy, she didn't even notice that Satin would go back to ignoring her the second Nebula was away.
