Chapter 1"The Grumbling and the Growl"
Under the drumming rain, Zayn stared out the bus window, a grumbling in his mind echoing the chaotic city below. "I can't wait to eat at my favorite
restaurant!" he thought, excitement churning with building hunger.
He stepped off the bus, hands in his pockets, head down, walking towards the daunting line, a grumble in his throat. The crowd around him merely a blur – some lost in phones, others chatting with kids, oblivious to his building frustration.
He found himself at the very back, directly behind a large man devouring a hot dog. In his mind, Zayn's monologue turned to fury: "Who is this 'fat guy'? Exercise for once! You'll be dead in days!" Just as his rage peaked, the man fumbled, dropping the hot dog, which splattered with ketchup and mustard on the floor. The sight was the final spark; the waste of 'good food', the long line, and his escalating hunger converged.
A guttural growl erupted from his chest as the transformation began, a chaotic prelude to the new chapter of his life.
In the clan, a cornerstone of Metamorphia's society, tradition dictated that young Lycanthropes achieve their peak transformation at an early age. But for Zayn, this expectation became a curse. While his younger siblings and peers transformed with primal grace, Zayn's power remained dormant.
This failure branded him a "cursed one," as dictated by their tradition every 100 years. He became the clan's outcast, enduring constant scorn and disrespect. His parents, while conflicted, were ultimately embarrassed and ashamed, and even his younger siblings, who transformed effortlessly, looked down upon him.
This environment fostered a deep self-loathing, despite his gentle nature and willingness to help, culminating in the chaotic moment in the present.
