Lilah POV
My life has been nothing but harsh, abused by my pack, made a slave, and treated like a street rat, all because my hair was white and my mother died while giving birth to me, right from birth I was called bad omen, the slaves took care of me when I was a child, and when I did grow up, I become the slave's slave, my clothes are handouts by the slaves, I wore something a rag is better than, my meals is always their leftovers, I haven't eaten a decent meal since I was born, I only watched them eat while kneeling, waiting for any orders while they eat, or serve as an entertainment for them.
My routine all day is as everyday nothing changes, I wake up earlier than anyone in the pack, begin preparing their meal before the cookers wake up, and then move from room to room picking up their dirty clothes, when this is done, I start washing them, and by this time Lily and her girly bands come by mocking me and bullying me, calling me names as they go for their morning run.
After this routine of washing clothes, I move over to washing their dishes and cleaning up the kitchen and dining room, and if there are any leftovers, then it is my lucky day. Sometimes they purposely throw them away or feed them to the dogs. After cleaning up, by this time, they all have gone to their previous businesses, so I have chances to clean up the rooms before anyone comes back; after this, I have five minutes to myself to bathe and eat, if there are any leftovers. When they were back and in their rooms, I cleaned up the whole pack house. The only place I am not allowed in is the alpha’s wing, and I am not allowed to touch his food or anything that belongs to him; the only exception is when there's an event or ceremony when everyone's help is needed.
All this, I do every day, I only had 5 hours of sleep, and I looked older than my age, I envied Lily, she had black hair, and her hair was so smooth and long, and her eyes were the brightest sky blue color I have ever seen, she always wears makeup, which lightens up her beauty the more, and there's a rumor she would become the future Luna when the Alpha son comes of age and they would recognize each other as mate, the right age when you mate appears is nineteen, I am twenty-three and yet I have not found my other half, I have always thought if I found my mate, I will escape from this ill life but it seems like the moon goddess also thinks am a sin, and this detail also added to the evidence of me being a bad omen, everyone was sure now and I was ordered not to look at anyone directly in the eyes, I was forced to keep my eyes down.
I was made a topic in the school for the young wolves, teaching them to avoid me and that I bring bad news, whenever they taught about goblins, I was used as an example, and yet I have stayed in this pack for twenty-three years and yet I have done nothing, rather the park is prospering with wealth and children, not until recently did we went for a war with the Axel pack over a piece of land between the two bounders, the land was dragged for almost one year now, but then over Alpha had heard enough so he ended the drag by building a school on the land over a night, it happened so fast that everyone thinks Roxanne the witch, had a hand in the speed at which the building was done, however, this act made the Alpha of Axel pack more outraged, so he called on war with our pack, my Alpha was not one without pride so he accepted, but he knew our warriors was not a match to Axel warriors so he sent help from Steele pack, this pack is known as the strongest pack known for their powerful strikes, this development was not know to the Axel pack, so they went on a blind war which lead to their brutally defeat.
Today, is a ceremony, celebrating the victory my pack had over the Axel, food was everywhere, wine was water flowing everywhere, there was laughter everywhere, and Alpha had a smile on his face, I severed everyone and made sure the food and wine were not reducing from the hall, and as I was setting up the table for the fifth time, I heard the Alpha discussing with his beta, asking, what shall be the gift offering for the Steele pack for the help they rendered to us, at that moment my world freezes when I felt their eyes on me, I quickened my movement so I can leave their presence at one, then I heard the Alpha say.
“ Why don't we give them this sin, killing two birds at once, getting rid of this bad omen and appreciating them at once, don't you think?”
At that moment, all I could wish for was the beta to say otherwise, I didn't want to move from pan to fire itself, Steele pack is a pack known for their black hearts, and besides, there's a saying that the devil you know is better than the devil you don't know, I better Stick here and figure my way out, than figuring it out in a new environment it will be a lot hard, but what I heard next killed my remaining hopes.
“ Yes Alpha, that's a very good choice. I think she is the best gift; having her around would reduce the money spent on staff; I prepare for her departure immediately?”
The next thing I felt was a hand on my hair, I was dragged away, washed down with a pipe by the head maid, and given a cloth to change into, the cloth was not bad, it was looking better than the wet clothes I had on, I changed and presented myself to the beta, and then we are on our way to my new pack, one thing I know for sure is, my fate is not in my hands, so I have to grab it or change it.
