Brianna's POV "Why can't you do anything right? Is it so hard to wipe the floor clean?" my mother-in-law screamed at me for the umpteenth time "I will do it again" I said calmly and started cleaning the house all over. I've been married to my husband for over four years now and my life became a living hell ever since I got married to him. If my colleagues at work find out that a senior chief prosecutor is treated like a slave, I wonder how they will look at me. *Five years ago* It was a hot afternoon on that Monday. I still remember the day very clearly and if I was to go back in time, I wouldn't have gone out that day even though it was the prosecutor general that sent me on an errand. My car suddenly broke down on the way and I tried calling for help but somehow, the call wasn't reachable. I couldn't keep standing in the scorching sun so I wanted to sit in my car when he appeared out of nowhere. "Did your car break down?" he asked walking up to me "Yes, I don't know what's wrong with it" I answered "Let me check it out" he said and rolled the sleeve of his shirt His muscular arms popped out and I gulped out nothing. He was the true definition of hotness and he made me remember my first love in highschool. "Try starting the car now" his voice jolted me out my thoughts Surprisingly, the car started working fine immediately and I was amazed. How was he able to repair it in just few minutes? "Thank you so much, I don't know how to repay you for this" I said "It's okay. It wasn't a major issue so I was able to do it but make sure you check your car before taking it out next time" he advised We went our separate ways that day but not long after, I met him at the prosecution again. I thanked him for the other day and invited him for coffee in my office. "If we meet the third time, does that mean it's destiny?" he asked while sipping his coffee "What destiny?" I smiled "Your smile is so beautiful, I wish we could meet again so I can see that smile" he said "Like you said, if we meet the third time it's destiny so let's wait till then" I said Somehow, I started liking him from the first time we met and after meeting the second time, my likeness for him grew. We met again the third time at a restaurant where I went for dinner and we exchanged contacts. We started talking since then and not long after, we started dating. About few weeks into the relationship, I discovered that he was my first love in highschool. "Wow! It's really a small world. Who knew we would meet like this again and even date again?" I asked surprisingly after introducing myself to him "I know right? Your name seemed familiar to me but I didn't really remember clearly" he said How come he didn't remember clearly? We were each other's first love, how could he not have known me? I suspected it after he told me his name so I made my research and was able to find out but he didn't even think about it. Now that I think clearly, he looks different somehow. "What are you thinking about?" he asked when I stayed quiet for a while "You've changed a lot. Your behavior in highschool was totally different from now" I said "How?" he asked "I don't know how to put it but you're completely different. You were reserved back in highschool but it's different now" I said "I can't possibly remain the same way I was in highschool, it's been so many years" he said I guess he's right. I still feel he has changed a lot though but I'll just leave it like that. After close to one year of dating, we got married. Surprisingly, the wedding was a small one. I was shocked because his company is one of the biggest in America and he's well known on social media. I was even scared that so many people would attend but it was mostly just his family that attended. He already told me to not invite my friends for personal reasons and he also told me to not let them know I was getting married to him. I agreed because I thought he didn't want news about his personal life to spread but the wedding was just too shocking. After we got home that night, I found out he was married to two wives already and I almost went crazy. "Didn't you say you were single?" I asked tiredly My legs were weak from finding out so I had to sit down before I fainted. "I'm sorry I lied to you but you wouldn't have married me if I told you I had two wives already and you know how much I love you" he said "Love?" I cracked "Do you even know the meaning of the love you are saying? Oh my goodness! What have I gotten myself into?" I cried "Who is she?" a woman who just ascended the stairs asked Liam "Mom, she's my new wife" Liam said "Ahh, the prosecutor?" she asked She's his mom? So his mom didn't even attend the wedding but we still got married? Why do I feel like I'm in deep s**t? "Didn't you hear him say I'm his mom? Why are you still sitting?" she snapped "I'm sorry mom. Good evening" I greeted "I'm not your mom, call me Mrs Grant" she said "How is that possible? I'm married to your son already so it's only right that I call you mom" I smiled softly I was met with a resounding slap instead and for a moment, I thought I saw stars. "Mom, please" Liam sighed and she left after that "Honey, I'm sorry about that" Liam said and tried to touch me but I moved away "I came to your house for the first time today and your mom slapped me. Is that what I'm supposed to out up with for the rest of my life?" I asked in tears "I will talk to her so it won't ever happen again, don't worry" he said We lived like a married couple for the first few weeks of marriage but I couldn't put up with the behaviour of his family especially his second wife so I asked for a divorce. "What are you talking about? Why do you want a divorce after just few weeks of marriage?" he asked "You are really asking me that question? Your wife and mom treat me like a slave and no one in this family respects me, including the servants so why should I continue to stay here and endure humiliation?" I scoffed "Fine, I will correct everything and I promise to divorce both of them soon because you are the only one I love. I only got married to them because my mom wanted me to but I will make things right very soon, just give me a little more time" he said He officially announced me as his third wife in the house and ever since then, the servants respected me. The only thing that didn't change was the second wife and his mom but I endured everything while waiting for him to divorce the two wives. *End of flashback* After he told me about his plan to divorce his two wives, he refused to touch me since then. He claimed that he wanted to wait until after divorcing them before getting intimate with me again. I discovered few days later that I was pregnant but I lost the baby within a few weeks. I was really heartbroken back then and there was no one to console me, not even Liam because he was on a business trip. I endured the humiliation and suffering for over four years with the hope that he would divorce the wives soon. I even had to cover up his dirty deeds since we were a family and I didn't want anything that will affect our family. After we got married, he became the governor of the state and now, he's contesting for president. He has been rising to the top since we got married while I've remained stagnant. I became the senior chief prosecutor after just two years of working with the prosecution and everyone thought I was going to be the prosecutor general the following year but the position was given to someone else. I don't know why that happened but I feel this marriage is giving me ill luck and I feel like just getting a divorce. To be continued....... © Tricia
