Chapter 27: Summer Plans

Halea and Veronica started to become closer as the days past by. The weekend together between the two groups became a regular activity. Though the closeness is showing Adrienne and Amelia has always been suspicious and maintaining a distance. Their instinct is always to protect Halea from Veronica.

They've been seen to eat lunch together.

"Hey, ladies," Veronica greeted Halea and her friends, "Mind if we join you?"

"Not at all, please the space is still big," Halea said while she glares at Caleb who just nod in agreement.

"Hi, Jason!" Ivy greeted Jason and sat beside him while Adrienne was on the other side of Jason, "Hi Adrienne,"

"Hi!" Adrienne said

"Hey, Ivy, ladies," Jason said

Caleb was sitting in the far end almost opposite Halea on a round garden table with a roof. They were at the park which was a few meters away from the cafeteria. Halea is in between Adrienne and Amelia while Matthew sits beside Amelia and Caleb. 

Leslie went to sit beside Caleb, while Victoria sits next to her.

"Next week is summer break already, do you guys have any plans?" Veronica asked everyone

"We're planning to do a part-time job at the dock with Arnold. That's the three of us. How about you?"

"I and Mark were planning for some out of town adventure, and I may stay at my aunt's in the Main Capital," Veronica said

"Are you going to Asticus?" Halea asked

"Yeah," Veronica said 

"Isn't that where you came from?" Adrienne asked Halea while she eats the food that Jason is putting on her plate.

"Yeah, I grew up there," 

"Jason, how about you what is your plan this summer?" Ivy asked

"Me, I'll be travelling along with Caleb and Matthew. Will be visiting old relatives from the province"

"I thought you're not coming?"

He looked at her and answered, "Uhm, they will wait for me to complete my training so I'm coming"

"Oh, Okay," 

"Don't you like your food? You can have some of mine if you want,"

"What do you mean?" Jason asked

"I haven't seen you eat, you're just placing everything on Adrienne's plate. You might get hungry," Ivy said

Jason chuckles and brushed his hair, "You noticed that, huh. This is Addy's favourite but she doesn't want to take from me so I'm putting it on her plate to eat," he chuckles again and took some food from Adrienne's pack lunch. "Don't worry about me, I won't get hungry she normally packs lunch for her and me," he said while eating. 

"So you guys share food, are you sure you're not in a relationship," Ivy said raising her eyebrow 

I, Matthew and Amelia laugh at her observation. They've been like cats and dogs most of the time teasing each other but when its eating time they are like this. 

"No, we're not in a relationship," Adrienne said, "He is just comfortable around us," she added

"Yeah, Addy and I practically grew up together in the mountains when we were young. I was a sick boy growing up and her Nana took care of me," Jason said

"oh, I remember your mom was a nurse at the hospital, right?" Ivy asked Adrienne

"Yes, that's correct," she is now eating what Jason placed in her plate while Jason is now eating the packed lunch.

"How about you Leslie where will you spend summer?" I asked her

"Oh, I'm helping my Mom on her cake shop,"

"That's great, I love to bake," Amelia said, "I'll go drop by at your shop sometime and you need to tell me which one you baked,"

 "Sure," she said

"I heard Rahul's leaving next week. Are you not afraid of him not coming back or that he would meet someone new?" Veronica said

"I'll be lying if I will tell you I'm not afraid but my faith in him is stronger and I believe he will come back and fulfil his promise,"

"Faith is what separates us from others if that doesn't work then blame it on destiny," Calebs spoke 

"Wow, I didn't know you're this serious and I like it," Leslie said flirting

"So we will be seeing each other after the summer break is over. I wish everyone a safe journey and a successful summer!" Caleb said

"Woohoo, Summer break here we come!"Jason shouting very loud, "Cheers," he said as he raised his fork and we all followed him saying "cheers," 

Caleb's POV

My quest to find the bearer of the moonlight will soon start, but for now, I was asked to train first under Apong Estrella. My wolf needed to learn to control its flame so it won't burn out, we needed more information from her as to what really is the message about. She may provide us with a better understanding of the prophecy. And to do that she requested that I and my chosen pack who will travel to the underworld be trained by her first.

Apong Estrella and her clan were known to be the descendant of the warrior goddess they are skilled in hunting and usage of the bow and arrow, sword fighting and hand combat. Their tribe is one of the respected warriors in the old Vale until now.

This would also be enough for us to wait until Jason turn 16, that's 2 weeks from now. He will be able to join us in our quest. It could have been nice if my mate is with me, the quest will be more inspiring. Having my wolf somehow calms me and refrain me from thinking of Halea. Her presence is somehow bearable unlike my attraction to her prior to the awakening of my wolf. Although I can see that she's paying more attention to me and catching her gaze as if I am attracting her.    

Halea's POV

In the same afternoon, I messaged Rahul informing him to meet me early as the class end early. He came after receiving my message. And we went to our favourite place, the beach.

"How was your day?"

"It was good, graduation is next week and the school is over," he said

"Congratulations, Mr Valedictorian!"

"Thank you, That's my gift to my Mom and Dad," he said, "And for you, I have something else,"

"Really, I should be the one giving you a gift,"

"No, I won't be here on your birthday so I'm giving this to you this early. I hope you would always remember me," he said and he gave me a small box

I took the box and open it, inside was a necklace with green cut stone sparkling, I took it out and looked at it closer. He took the necklace and tried putting it on me.

"This is a green diamond, it says that it symbolizes new life. The colour green itself represents abundance, prosperity, vigour and life," he said as he locks the necklace at the back of my neck.

"I wanted to start a new life with you when I completed my journey, I will be just around and will visit from time to time. But whenever you miss me just hold on to this think of it like you're holding my heart," he said.

I faced him and say my gratitude, "Thank you, I will wait for you. All you have to do is come back,"

"Will you be here next month?"

"On your birthday you mean?"

"Yes,"

"I will try, I am still unsure of it but I will message you if ever,"

"It's okay, I don't usually celebrate it as you do but my parents do. But talking to you on  that day would surely make a difference so please call me,"

"I will, I promise,"

Rahul's POV

I will remain in Vale but maybe in the forest or in the mountains, my first mission is to find the Lake of truth, the Lake Unda. If I managed to dip in it, I may regain the memories I have lost and would remember how to find my dragon form. I hope it still has the powers it poses. I have been looking for it for quite a long time the only difference is that I saw it in my dreams this time. Which means it is showing me the way. 

After having dinner with Halea, I send her home. I know I would really miss her. I wanted to show her my cabin in the woods but I don't want to distract her and let her go there alone. It's dangerous to roam in the forest especially if you are not familiar with it. And that is something I don't want to happen to her. Instead, I gave her the key to the beach house and has informed my helper in case she would come to unwind with her friends. I want her to be comfortable in the beach house since this is mine alone. 

My last task is to graduate which will be next week Wednesday, after that, I am free to do whatever I need to do.
