Lisa’s face fills my laptop. Juan’s screen is smaller, but he’s no less outraged. “I can’t believe you were in a situation like that!” His nostrils flare. He’s shaved his ponytail for the tour and is now rocking a high-low fade that makes him look ten times cuter.
“Relax. The doctor says the poison is completely out of my system.”
“Where did you get the test done?” Lisa asks, ever the practical one. “Did the doctor have all his certification?”
“I did a check up on Monday at the hospital here in Belize City. Dr. Cervantes is good. If he says I’m fine, I believe it.”
“Get a second opinion just in case.”
“I did some research on my own. The articles say if nothing happens in the first seven days then I should be fine.”
