Preview: The Escape
Alice walked into her house after a long 6-mile walk from the school. She was adopted into the family at an older age about 10 where she lived as her “mother's” personal slave always cleaning up after everyone and constantly being physically assaulted if she didn’t do things correctly.
Alice walked upstairs to the attic where her room was. If you could call it that, boxes scattered on one side and a window right above where her bed was. The few clothes she had were folded neatly by her be. Her cell phone, which she bought with the money she saved up from part-time jobs was in her backpack with her cord so no one would steal it from her room to sell it for money.
She walked over to her window opened it and gazed up at the moon that was a beautiful cornflower blue. She pulled out all her books and papers and everything else from her bag she wasn’t going to need anymore. She put what little clean clothes she had in her bag went over to a corner of the attic reached up behind a support beam and pulled out her stack of money she’d been saving up for the last 2 years. It wasn’t a lot, but it was enough to get her somewhere other than here.
She took a big breathe and looked out at the moon and whispered “Everything starts with a leap of faith”. She closed her eyes expecting the impact to hurt more and then it did. She opened her eyes when her feet hit the ground a little earlier than she thought and looked around.
Where her white chipped house had stood were trees that looked like they went on for miles along with a gravel road. She turned around and saw a huge iron gate along with iron fencing surrounding what looked like miniature castles.
When she walked through the gate she took a deep breathe as she was instantly surrounded by these strange-looking people what she could only describe as cosplayers.
