FORTY-ONE Frank Oliver sat in his car, watching his sister-in-law’s house. He sipped a beer while he waited. Empty cans littered the floorboard as he worked on the last of a six-pack. He’d seen Hal leave earlier that morning, around 7:30, obviously on his way to work. Nobody else had left the house since then. At least not as far as Frank could tell. Of course, he couldn’t be sure because, in order to avoid suspicion, he periodically drove around the neighborhood before returning to a different vantage point each time. A Mercedes wouldn’t seem out of place in this well-to-do neighborhood, but an occupied Mercedes sitting in the same place for hours might.
