Kelly waited at the curb when Joey pulled his silver Toyota Highlander in front of her office. They had touched base again that morning and decided to meet over lunch instead of waiting until the afternoon. Kelly agreed instantly when Joey suggested it, so she canceled a post-court meeting and waited for Joey to pick her up.
“How’re you doing?” he asked when she stepped into his vehicle.
“Good.” She fastened her seatbelt then sighed. “Thanks. I had a tough morning, so getting out for lunch sounds really good right now.”
“I know what you mean. It’s a nice break to get away from the office in the middle of the day.”
“So, where are we going for this nice break?”
“One of my east Dallas dives. A good breakfast place.”
