Having us all living together in Yakima in the tiny yellow house under one roof, I was starting to find it difficult to stay aloof or uninterested in the lives of my growing family, as well as that of Julia’s brothers. I’d like to pretend that things will always be like this. Us. Together. A happy family unit.
I had recently started sharing a bed with Julia at night after she had moved Rowan in with her brothers. It felt quite intimate to me even though it was not. The pregnancy as well as my lack of any interest in s****l relations after my injury kept us from any true intimacy. But I felt closer to Julia than I ever had been before. I was there to help her and do whatever I could to soothe her discomfort. To assist her with all her needs.
