"We're going to have a group activity, to be exact it's by partner, two members per group of course," Ma'am Elira said while writing on the whiteboard.
What? Two members only?
"Students, you're going to make a photojournal book about our school. You can decide what topic you're into or what theme you like. It's your one and only project for this semester. The deadline will be before the examination, is that clear?" she explained.
"Yes Ma'am," we all said.
"One more thing, when you finish that, we are going to display it in the library, or maybe we can run that for a competition. The principal is still not sure about that, I'll inform you guys if there are any announcements."
Suddenly, someone raised their hand.
"Yes Carlo?"
"Ma'am who's our partner?" he asked.
"I'll send the list on our GC later, for now. Just listen to our discussion. But I'll give you a hint. There is one boy and one girl in every group, but still, it depends. Since there are a lot more girls than boys here in your section."
I hope I'd be paired with a decent student.
"Hey, I hope we're partners," Lucas whispered to me.
"Yeah, I hope that too!" I whispered back.
I looked at him, he noticed something. He looks worried.
"What happened to your lips?" he asked.
"Oh, this? It's because of the coffee," I giggled.
"Such a clumsy girl."

*It's recess time*
Ma'am Elira dismissed the class early. I'm currently waiting for Cris and Kath to arrive at the cafeteria.
My eyes are linked to my book again while trying to help myself not to eat my food so that me and my best friends can eat together.
A few minutes later the two of them arrived.
"Finally, you two are here," I said then I closed my book.
"Sorry Mr. Ramos did some overtime," Cris explained while sitting on my side.
Kath sits on the other side of the table. "What happened to your lips Iris? Is that a burn?"
I nodded. "I drink coffee last night and I'm being me so I forgot to blow it so here."
"Did you put some medicine in that skin of yours?" Cris asked as life they are really worried about me.
"Guys, I'm fine. It's just a burn nothing serious," I said while opening my food. "You want guys?"
Suddenly my phone vibrates.
"Oh a notification, maybe it's the groupings for that photojournal book," I said excitedly. I grabbed my phone and saw that there was a message on the group chat. I opened it excitedly. "Hope I have been paired with Lucas," I whispered.
Cris smiled. "I heard that."
Kath looked at Cris, "Hey what did she say?" she asked curiously.
"Nothin'," she said then moved her shoulders up and down.
Finally, I opened the list. I searched for my name.
"Velasquez, Seraphina, come on where it is," I said quietly while my fingers were searching for my name on the phone. "Here!"
Partnered by-
Ethan?!
I off my phone.
"Hey, who's your pair for that project?" Cris asked.
Then I suddenly remembered Kath being so stubborn about what happened before. So I'm not sure if it's a good thing to do that. Should I hide it? What will I do?
"Nothing, just a stranger," I said then I put down my phone and grabbed my food to eat.
"A stranger?! Iris, you've been here for almost 2 weeks and yet you call your classmates a stranger?" Cris said then bonked me.
I almost choked on my food. "Ouch that hurts Cris," I said then rubbed my head where she bonked me.
"As if she's talking to anyone there. I bet you're just talking to that guy, what's his name again, Luca?" Kath said while drinking soda.
"It's Lucas silly," Cris said.
After a few moments, we finished eating and we said our goodbyes again.

*After class*
I went to the school's basketball court.
As I expected I can find him here. He didn't attend school this day so this is the only time that I can say it to him.
Anyways, what will I say? How will I approach him?
Before I entered the court. I think again.
"Hey Ethan, we're partners on the photojournal project- no, it sounded like I'm his friend. We're not even close. What if, Hi Mr. Ethan, we are paired for that new project hope we get along well- no, sounds too formal."
What a headache.
"Hey Ethan, we're partners, I need you to think of a theme and I need it this evening, I don't like lazy people... Aahhh eventually no! I sound so rude."
Aahhh, I'll leave it to faith.
I turned around and walked towards the entrance when I saw Ethan in there drinking water. He glares at me.
He closes his tumbler and then put it down. He walks toward me and then squats a bit so that our height will be equal.
"Hello partner," he said while smiling.
"Stop squatting, I know I'm short."
He chuckled.
"Did you just come here just to say that you're my pair?" he asked then I nodded.
He looked at me and then raised his eyebrow. "Sure?"
I nod again, he's not removing his gaze on me. What's wrong with this guy?
He leans closer to me. "What happened to your lips?" He asked.
"None of your business, Mr.," I said sarcastically.
He lifted his hand and caressed my lips with his fingers. "You didn't put medicine on it? It's still swollen."
"It's just a burn, it doesn't hurt at all," I said to him while trying to retreat.
He's so close to me.
Suddenly... He pressed my lips with his thumb.
"Ouch!"
"You said it doesn't hurt," he raised his eyebrow. "Come."
He grabbed my hand and walked inside the court.
"Hey bro, where's the first aid kit?" he asked one of his teammates.
"At the lower corner of that cabinet over there," his teammates said then pointed at the one cabinet.
"You stay here, don't run away," he said to me while his tone was being bossy.
What's wrong with this guy? I asked my self the second time.
After a few minutes he came back with a box of first aid kit. He opened it and lifted up a cream for burned skin.
"Give it to me I can do it myself," I said and tried to grab the medicine to him.
He shook off my hand.
"You can't put it evenly if you do it on your own and how can I give it to the person who burned her lips," he said then opened the cream. "Open your mouth a bit and don't move."
I followed his instructions.
He gently taps my lips with his thumb with the medicine in it.
I find myself looking at him. Why is he doing those things for me? Is he just being a gentleman or it's because it'll be his partner... For this project.
"Done," he closes the medicine. "You can now stop looking at me like that."
I came back to my senses and looked away. "T-thank you."
"No worries, if you don't have anything to say you can leave now. It's already getting late," he said then closed the first aid kit.
I nodded, I stand up and walked away.
"Take care Seraphina."
