Five minutes later, Shadow, Jedda, Lorn, and Kiri knelt, hands behind their heads, on the cold deck plates of the cargo bay. The robot that had ordered them out stood watch over them. Spider-legged, identical, so far as Lorn could tell, to the one that had killed Ekwansi in Margaret’s Land, it hadn’t spoken again once it had told them to kneel where they were with their hands behind their heads.
