Lorn had half a second, staring at the empty corridor the elevator door revealed once they’d stopped rising, to think, That was easier than I thought, before Kiri began firing. Sparks and drops of molten metal spattered as her laser sliced through the walls in six precisely spaced points. Then she stepped out of the elevator. He followed, and the door closed behind them.
He stared at the holes she’d drilled. “Security systems?”

“You trained for this.”
