Epilogue
Lorn stood with his hands on the handles of Kiri’s wheelchair, looking out the window of a posh boardroom atop one of the multi-story towers encircling the Bagnell spaceport at the bustle far below. There were more vessels down there than the field had ever seen, sleek spacecraft from the ELF fleet that had arrived in orbit even as he and Kiri had been fighting their way into Falcon’s Egg.
Everything we did…breaking into Falcon’s Egg, destroying the computer core…it was all unnecessary, he thought. Killing the computer had allowed them time to escape, but that was all it had done. The ELF spaceplanes would have killed it just as dead minutes later.
