Art nodded. “Very well. So you need a matter/antimatter warhead. You need to get to Mayflower II without being detected. You need to reinstall the warhead in one of the Mayflower II’s missiles. You need to be able to program and launch it without being detected or stopped. Does that cover it?” Kiri nodded. “Then I’ve got a call to make. To an old friend.” Lorn stared at him. “Shadow?” “Shadow.” “But why?” Lorn felt a surge of anger. “She shot you. She’s a rabble-rouser in the Annex.” “Spoken like a true SSIN loyalist,” Art said sharply, and Lorn clenched his jaw, angry not just at the rebuke but because he knew it was justified: he was parroting what he’d heard other SSIN officers say. But, dammit, it was true! Shadow was a rabble-rouser. And she had shot Art. “Shadow,” Kiri said.
