Silas POV
“Man, they really went all out for this meeting didn’t they?” My beta, Apollo said. He’s looking out the window in excitement. Of course he’s excited. Seems they threw a party for this.
I look out the window and see party lights, people all around the packyard, and some even transformed into their wolves.
“Yeah, they threw a rager for it. Typical. Alphas love to party.” I say, putting a hand on the back of my neck.
“You haven’t partied in years. You never join me when I go. Maybe this will be fun for you. Maybe we’ll find some sexy women for the night.” He says, leaning back.
“I doubt that.” I say as I roll my eyes.
We pull up to the packhouse and instantly I see the guards straighten. They can sense my Alpha aura, it’s much stronger than any other Alpha. I am the Alpha king, after all.
My door opens first and I step out and they bare their necks.
“Alpha King.” They say in unison.
Apollos door shutting cuts the silence and he rushes around the SUV.
“So formal. I like it.” He jokes.
But this is how it always is. I’m respected by many, feared by all.
“Mmm I’m hungry..” my wolf Xalar grumbles.
I won’t lie, I’m a bit hungry too.
The guards hold their hands out, showing the way towards to door. We walk past and once were their were greeted by an omega servant, shaking quite a lot.
“A-Alpha King.” He bows. He opens the door and announces, “Alpha King Silas Droganov and his beta Apollo Roan.”
It seems everyone stops the moment they hear that, all looking out direction and baring their necks.
So proper. So pretentious.
Annoying.
Alpha Blake rushes to the front, this is his pack. Pack Redwood. He greets us first.
Alpha Silas! Glad to see you! Your room has been prepared if you’d like to follow this omega, then after, join us for dinner in the dining hall. My omegas have prepared a lovely meal for the night.
I nod, seeing the omega waiting by the stairs. I follow him up the stairs with Apollo and once we’re to the guest hall, my wolf starts to stir.
There’s a scent.. a sweet and warm one.. it makes my mouth water ever so slightly.
“What’s that smell?” I ask.
The omega and Apollo both look at me confused.
“What smell?” Apollo asks. “All I smell is perfume and wolf.”
“Unless it’s the cleaning supplies, we had the rooms cleaned before everyone arrived.”
I shake my head, “no that’s not it.”
“What is it Xalor?” I ask my wolf’s
“I don’t know but it’s delicious.” He replied.
Shaking my head, we stop at a door. “This one is for the beta.”
“And this one’s is for the Alpha King.” He says, stopping at the next.
•••
That smell is all over the dining hall.. I wonder what it is.
“Alpha King Silas. I hope your ride wasn’t too boring. There’s a party for everyone to enjoy, but first I’ve prepared dinner for us all. I figured we’d enjoy ourselves for the night, let everyone get settled and have the meeting first thing tomorrow morning.”
“It wasn’t too bad. It’s quite pretty out here, a bit cold for my taste but a lovely pack nonetheless.” I say. His chest swells in pride at what he takes as a compliment.
I’m only at the meeting this year because a few of the packs are at war with each other, and I’m here to prevent it.
“Thank you. We take pride in our pack grounds. They’ve been in my family for centuries. We’ve grown in numbers in the last 16 years, making us the second biggest pack, coming in right after you.” He says.
That’s right.. his Father attacked a few nearby packs, killing their Alpha families and destroyed their lands. Those who didn’t submit to the new Alpha faced death. I always hated that my Father allowed such cruelty. It’s technically illegal but my father never did anything.
“Ah yes, what was it.. Blackstone pack and Blackwater?” I asked. His eyes widen ever so slightly.
“Y-yes.. but not just that. We’ve had lots of success recruiting new wolf members. Lots of strong pups have come over the years..” he’s cut off by a wolf rushing in.
“Alpha, theres someone been caught by the gate running. We think it’s rogues.” The wolf says.
Instantly I’m standing, along with a few other alphas rushing to the doors. No one likes rogues. They’re dangerous and their bites cause a sickness only cured by the blood the wolf that bit them.
Running outside, the scent I smelled earlier gets stronger. And everyone’s running the same direction, toward the gate, where the scent is coming from.
That’s when I spot a black shadow. Whatever it is, it seems to be climbing the fence. And goddess, it smells good.
I run with all my might, passing all the other Alphas and making it to the gate.
That’s when I spot her. I small framed, black haired woman climbing the gate. She reaches the top before I can even process what’s going on. She’s climbing out. Not in.
“Hey you! Stop right there!” I yell. But my words prove futile.
I catch up and that’s when she drops to the other side, breathing heavy.
The scent is her, it’s stronger now, filling my nose and making my skin prickle with excitement. My wolf is reacting howling in my head as well.
She turns around and shock hits me like a brick.
“Mate.” I say. Her eyes widen ever so slightly.
“Mate.”
